Best source for paint codes cross reference
While looking for Alabaster Silver Metallic (NH700M) touch up paint for my 2012 TL, I noticed that Honda also offered that color and wondered if they were the same. Some said it was and others said it wasn't.
I found a paint code cross reference at Paintref.com that has just about every vehicle manufacturer and model imaginable, dating as far back as 1928. They list paint codes from PPG, BASF, DuPont, Sherwin Williams, Autocolor, Glasurit and many others. I discovered that according to PPG, Acura/Honda actually used FOUR different versions of Alabaster Silver Metallic between 2006-2016. BASF and Sherwin Williams only list a single code for all models and years. Even though I found out which of the 4 PPG colors was on my TL (NH700M-A, G), I really didn't find an answer to my question about Acura's 08703-NH700MAA-A1 being the same, or not, as Honda's 08703-NH700MAH-A1, since Honda only offers a single version of NH700M touch up paint. Still, Paintref.com is a great source for cross referencing manufacturer's paint codes.
I'm not sure which forum this belongs in. Please move it to the appropriate forum, if necessary.

To match the color, it is absolutely necessary to apply silver with a spray gun, therefore, for touch-up, the difference in NH700M does not matter, because silver will be 100% different from your car color, so buy what is on sale.

thank you for the info, my bodyshop has a some sort of reference which shows what changes were made by batches at the factory to better help paint matching and they've been great to me!
