Base TL Pricing in Canada

I am going to purchase a base TL in the next few weeks and would like to know what the best prices that people are getting on the base TL . I know the MSRP is $39,990 but are people actually paying that?
I would like to get a feel of the market so as to have a starting point to negotiate other possible options or equipment.

I got my base TL with:
HPT package (along with 17's for winter)
body kit
all season mats
rear deck spoiler

all for 46K, they wanted over 50K but got them talked down.

TJ thanks for replying. I didn't think that there was anybody in Canada to get an answer from.
Excuse my ignorance but what is the "HPT Package"and body kit.
Also does the 46k includes taxes etc... and what price did they start you off at.For example the 39,990 with GST and PST gets up to just over 45K here in Montreal.

Looking at the following website, it looks like there's a $4500 CAD discount for the TL. Of course from there, you can negotiate further. Actually, I would negotiate a price first, then ask them about that $4500 discount. I have a feeling that if you tell them about the $4500 discount first, there will be less room for you to bring the price further down.

For example, ask for $3k discount, then show them the $4500 rebate. Then yu get $7.5k off. But if you show them the $4500 rebate first, then ask them for further discount, they might only give you another $1.5k, so you will only save $6k only.

Good luck!

I paid total of about 45K back in May 2009 for CBP Base TL....Upgraded 18 Wheels plus got to keep the 17 inch wheels...rear deck spolier...all season mat...trunk mat...tints...paint protection...3 free service packages(probably not free)....this is the best I could do at that time

It was 46K after taxes. Luckily no PST here . Also got 2.9% financing over a 4yr term. It was 39,990 + GST but then with the wheels + 6K and the other little options it would have set me back about 50K. Since I own a RSX I was able to get another 1500 off. So with a little easy talk I was able to get it down to 46K, after tax that is. Hope this helps you out.

Don't forget there is an $1,800 destination charge, and other environmental fees and taxes on top of the MSRP. That being said I'm sure you can easisly get them to knock $2 to $3 thousand from the price. So basically you'd be paing $40k in total everything included.

It might be worth joining a website called carcostcanada to find out what the dealers invoice is.

BJG57, I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread a little bit by asking a separate by related question - in Canada (esp in Calgary) can you get exactly the color combo that you want easily? Do the Acura dealers carry many TL SH-AWD in stock? I am wondering if it's very difficult to locate a TL SH-AWD with Grigio and umber interior? Do you guys have to special order?

I appreciate your insight on this! Thanks.

ostrich, not a problem. Since I am in the market I can tell you that Acura dealers carry plenty of TL SH-AWD's in stock. An easy way to find out is to Google " Acura Calgary " and they should give a list of Acura dealers in Calgary. Once there they usually have a list of inventory available. I know for a fact that in Montreal for example there is a wide selection of base and SH-AWD's available with different colour combinations. For example I will like a black on black TL and the dealer has told me that if he doesn't have one he can get it in 1 to 3 days. So I don't believe that getting your specific preference would be a problem. I hope this helps.

Ostrich, I can tell you first hand that your color combo wont be an issue. I am from Calgary and the two dealers here are "Silverhill Acura" and "Northwest Acura". I was at Silverhill last weekend and was looking specifically at a TL SH-AWD (Grigio and Umber) in stock. I stopped counting the TL's they had in stock at 30 (even an A-Spec) and remember that most models up here in Canada (Calgary anyways) appear to be the SH models......amazingly they also had 19 (Yes, NINETEEN) ZDX's in stock.

Acura hasnt been selling well in Canada for the past couple years and some rebates have been very big. Last fall and at X-mas they where offering $5500 off TL's (all models) $10K off RL's and MDX's etc. The longer you wait till year end the chance of your color choice will obviously be limited but im sure by looking at stock here in Calgary the Huge rebates should be coming back soon. When are you moving here?

PS. if your buying in the US check to make sure they will honor the warranty here. All manufactures are being very sticky on this in Canada now that the dollar has been on par for some time and many are traveling to the US to make a purchase. If your moving here permanently I can see them giving you a hard time on a US model.

PSS. Nice color choice BTW. IMO the nicest color combo Acura offers and NO I didnt purchase the one at "Silverhill Acura" although I believe there where a couple there in that color combo.

BJG57 and cp3117, thank you so much for your help!

I probably will be moving in November, but it depends on quite a few things and they are not finalized yet....

I have checked with Acura Canada - since I am not Canadian, and I will be on a Work Permit, they will honor my warranty from the US (they will NOT do so if I were Canadian buying an Acura from the States!!!). The only thing is, I can now get a 2010 SH-AWD with Tech package for about $37,800 + tax etc in the States (after all the discounts), so that translates to about $41060 USD = $42405 CAD. Then I will have to deal with shipping etc. and the minor issue of not having all of the metric units on the dashboard (if I want to change it to the metric system, it will be about $1000 done at a Calgary dealership).

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if I should just buy it in Canada....

Ostrich, I think the best thing to do would be to find out how much it will cost to transport the car to Canada. Once you have that then you can put down the numbers and make an intelligent decision.

Are you leasing or buying? There's $4500 ADVERTISED Cash Rebate on the TL, only for those using their OWN money. There's also a 1.9% lease rate for a 36 month lease or a 2.9% rate on a 48 month lease. There's about $3200 to play with, so anywhere between $1500-$2000 off would be reasonable. It all depends on the dealer and their inventory. I believe at this point, more dealers have Tech Package FWD models. I just check ours and we only have 3 Base FWD's left. Good Luck!

CraigMacDTA, I am looking to lease for 48 months, so I know that I can get the 2.9% lease rate.
So are you says that I can reasonable get $1,500 to $2,000 off the the MSRP, or options valued at that amount.?

There's $3200 to play with, whether it be in options or discount. What I'd do? Go back to you salesman, offer $37,790 as the selling price ($2200 discount) and go from there. Show him your credit card and telll him/her that you're ready to buy. Most guys won't sell Base Models right now for less than $1000 profit so this would be considered a good deal for you and a fleet deal for them. If they want more, move on to the next one!

BTW, this should come out to $542.68 per month (taxes in) with roughly $3000 due on delivery.

CraigMacDTA, Just curious, are you a dealer, or do you have inside connections regarding pricing.

Make sure you do it before June ends as the residual values are changing July 1st - residuals are going to be lowered which will effectively make your payment higher.
