Back Up Camera Upgrade

Does anyone know if the back-up camera on the TL can be upgraded or replaced? I would like to have the dynamic lines and possibly the sensors that warn you of an approaching car driving by like in the newer models. I had a new RDX for a loaner and fell in love with the back up camera. BTW buying a newer vehicle is not an option.

This can't be done. I can tell you that the TL needs a camera because the car is so big. You can't tell where it ends without it.

The sensors for the cars coming is cross traffic alert and I believe uses sensors under the sides of the bumper. You might be able to find an aftermarket kit for it. As far as the dynamic lines I'm not sure that can be done with the factory camera. The factory camera is pretty decent compared to some cars but yes it's somewhat lagging behind.

The funny thing is the backup camera on my 2014 TL provides a better image than the 2017 TLX loaner I had a few weeks back.

I drove the new RDX as a loaner and the back up camera sucks. But if you like it better, I'm not sure if it is interchangeable. However, you can install the blind spot monitoring system as I've seen someone on here do that. You would also need to buy new trim pieces with the blind spot indicators on the A pillars.

Thanks for all the replies. I will keep on looking. I was hoping I could simply replace the camera and possibly get the dynamic lines or the cross traffic sensor.

Should have known it isnt that easy.
