Anyone Else Find The "Weather" Function Essentially Useless?

It tells you nothing really. Absolute bullshit hype. My friend's '10 ES 350 actually gives you a real weather report for the next three days with projected highs/lows, etc. Ours is just total garbage. Just tells you if it's going to be cloudy, overcast, sunny, blah, blah blah. Who gives a shit?

You really should have done better on the implementation of this feature Acura!!!

Very disappointing.

I find the traffic feature pretty useful as it gives me updates on accidents, construction, etc. during my daily commutes and it does a good job of re-routes if a road is blocked. The weather feature on the other hand is just gimmicky....unless you do a lot of interstate driving, I don't see what the point of it is. I would much rather like to see Acura do something like BMW's new Internet service in future models....it's of very limited use in the States at the present time but widely available in Europe.

Weather -- hmmm -- hard to say, as the 3 month trial for me ran out before we had any weather in San Diego (sorry rest of nation, it's just nice here). The forcast around here is greatly ignored. I would have liked to see the dopler in action...

Once it tried to re-route me around a weather 'warning'. I know they don't make these up, but a costal flooding alert (high tides) for the I-15 (10 miles inland) was pretty amusing.

Weather and trafic alike, at least here there is no really good options. If there's traffic, it is really noce to see how for it is until the accident, but there's little you can do about it as it won't reroute to city streets and that probably wouldn't help anyway.

With stopped trafic take out my cell phone and pull up google maps traffic.

Weather was no use at all...and the traffic was only a little bit better.

If you have a smartphone (and I suspect that most tech savvy Acura owners have one) you can get much more useful traffic and weather.

For example, on the iPhone download the free Traffic app from INRIX..it not only shows you traffic now, but it also predicts traffic 30 and 60 minutes in the future. And there are a dozen good weather apps too.

The new A8's navi system is going to be based on gmaps. I wish acura would go this route. There's a reason why XM lumped traffic and weather together. No one would pay for either one separately. The cost of them separate is like a $1-$2 less then combined.

Yup the weather is totally useless, the traffic was useful when I used to drive into the city, but now that I don't it didn't make sense to keep it. I renewed my XM only for the $77 deal, and passed on the Weather and Traffic.

To Acura's credit that's what happens with your first to the buisness with a product, copcats like Lexus get to improve and say they have the best or were first, do not get me started with Lexus

+1

Don't get me started with Lexus as well. No more than a stuck up name brand, more concerned with their image and selling an image. Simply put, Lexus can go to hell.

Acura provides innovative and reliable technology.

I cancelled the Weather portion of my subscription. The jury is still out on the Traffic portion. There are a few instances where it proved useful. They have a BIG ommision in my area DC. I commute from DC to Silver Spring, and a portion of 295 BW Parkway isn't covered (Flow Data), which is covered on every other medium out there. Things that make you go hmmm....

Is there a way to update that?

When I get a phone capable of streaming Pandora, dropping XM entirely, it sounds like crap.

Wait... you thing that streaming anything (pandora) is going to sound better than XM radio? Stick to high quality AAC or MP3's.

Nice assumption...try Capitol Hill to Burtonsville 30-40 min depending on traffic on DC 295 & MD 295, 495, and 95. So yes, the traffic portion is important.

I work for Castle Ford/Mazda/Mitsu. I bought it with 7800 miles on it. I traded my 2006 Lincoln LS for it.

Wow, I live in St. Mary's County and it only takes me 60-75 minutes to get to Arlington....
