Ok boys...now I can 100% say that we're ON THE SAME PAGE. Honda has a 4 year cycle no matter how you slice and dice it.

LMAO... my original question was when the 5G would actually release, and the answer seems to be October of 2013, which is what I had thought. Thanks guys. haa

Bingo!

I can't wait to see what it'll look like but not looking forward to them bumping the MSRP up a little from even this one. I bet the AWD will be $46k.

if the next TL has the power of the RLX and still handles like the 4G TL, I'll happily pay a few grand more for 60+hp

True...but even the 4G was out of the price range of what I'd consider affordable. Not that it's not worth it, but too much money for a car, to me AND there are so many other car options at over $40k price point.

But not for the 4G TL, because Honda claimed that the existence of the 4G AWD TL eliminated the need for the higher performance 4G TL-S.

^^^ the overall price went up because of the TSX V6....

the TSX V6 sells for what the 3G TL sold for....the 4G is wayy to expensive....for a 45-50K price tag, i would rather go for an Audi/BMW/MB....

Yeah you can get a german car for the same price as a TL but it will be a base model which won't have anywhere near the options that even the base TL has... if you want a german car to have the same features as a TL it will be way more expensive.

^^^ I doubt that:

MB C350 - Fully loaded 52,995
Audi A4 Prestige with quattro® and Sline Package (fully loaded) - 51,795
Acura TL SHAWD with Advance Package (fully loaded) - 48,048
BMW 335i xDrive Sedan fully loaded with M suspension and Dynamic handling etc - 56,354

so if you see the other sedans are 4-8K more but you get either an AMG package or a S line package or a M package....you remove all that and you break even....

I would look into those as for that kinda $$$ you get a ton more features

I know we're talking sticker price here, but who the heck is paying $45-$50 for a 4G? It's gotten to the point you can get a 4G/SH-AWD/Advance for a bit more than $40k if you believe truecar and some of the posts in this forum. If you ditch the Advance package, you can get it for under $40k (not including TT&L).

well i think am pretty good with negotiating (atleast i like to think that way)....

helped a friend a year or 2 back get a fully loaded 2011 TSX i4 with Tech package and clear bra and lifetime oil changes and floor mats (practically everything) out the door for 30,950...we started negotiating from 35,xxx something....

i think you will get a SHAWD for 40K but i doubt you will walk out with a TL with an Advanced package and couple other options for less than 44....and that too is damn expensive....the sticker price on the 3G TL Type S which has Navi and everything was 38-39K....

i heard there were stories of discontinuing TSX but I think this will be a mistake....they should just move everything a segment up:

ILX <30K
TSX 30-40K i4-v6
TL 40-50K v6 SHAWD
RL 50-60K higher end luxury

Looks like Acura still have work to do to overcome the $50K price barrier for it's sedan lineup.

If the 5G is more like the 3G and priced under $35K...it'll be a big contender for me....otherwise, the 3 will probably be my last 4 door sedan that I buy (new, at least). I pay it off, keep it running nicely and then look at my options for a fun 2nd car.

^^^ Jeremy, I dont think the TL will be under 40 mang....I think for 38-39 you will have to get a V6 TSX with Tech package....

the sticker price on a TSX V6 with a Tech package with Sport package is 41,396 and you can negotiate it down to 38-39....

now if they discontinue the TSX (which IMO is a dumb move) and have ILX as the starting model and bring the prices of the TL down, now that I would think of.....but either way, I think the 3G TL looks the coolest of the bunch....looks very futuristic...and has a very well designed cabin....

This is my single biggest complaint with Acura in general--their habit of introducing and then quickly eliminating models. It makes it look they they are forever floundering around for some "formula" that works instead of sticking with a particular model lineup (like virtually every European maker and even most Asian marques--particularly at the higher end).

Acura looks like a toddler even compared with the Lexus line up which went from meek to bold.

Oh, my comment was not based on reality at all.
I agree...Lexus is picking up the slack. Saw an "F" model GS yesterday on the highway in white...I thought, wow...gorgeous.

Acura should keep the current model line and work from there, if they go smaller they would not be able to compete toe to toe with the other luxury auto makers. The current size of thje TL is perfect for me, i get a car that competes agaisnt the 5 series, E class, A6 for thousands less.

You need to do more reading and less assuming.

Getting a deal for a "fully loaded" TL under $40k is absolutely doable. Now try to get that same type of deal on those other cars you listed. In the end, Acura offers so much for the deal you can get it at.

I love Acura, I just would really like to see them up the power of the 5G. IMO, if the 4G had 330-340hp (somewhere to compete with the infiniti g which I always loved), I have a feeling it would not look as ugly as some people think it does loll. I know I would sure love it a lot more knowing how fast it would be.

But then again if I am only worried about hp I realize I have other options, but I would really love to stick with Acura. I like my 08 TL more and more every day. Would not mind going to the tsx if it is similar size/price of 3G TL.

in all honesty, you think a dealer has 10K is markup? the invoice on these cars are 43K...so 38-39K is NOT possible unless there is something with the car or the dealer is not SELLING a single damn car....

http://www.kbb.com/acura/tl/2012-acu...-new&options=#

http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2012/...onal-Equipment

and this is without adding any OPTIONS...the minute you add all season floor mats/trunk tray/wheel locks and couple other things, its another 1K...

EDIT: i bet this also depends on how many cars you have gotten from the dealer....if you get your car serviced at the dealership....the dealer knows you will be coming in and spending $260 on air filter change, fuck yeah they gonna reduce the price just to get you started....

I wonder about this logic because when I shopped for my CL in 2000 both the Premium and Type-S were available from jump street, I sat in both at the North American Auto show before they hit the dealerships a Satin Silver 3.2 Cl and the Sundance Gold Type-S. They released in fall 2000 and I picked mine up on the showroom flora in February 2001.

One minor flaw with this comparison. The size and features of the TL would compare more against the E-class Merc, 5-series BMW, and A5 Audi.

err nope !!!

the power on the TL doesnt match the 3series/C Class/A4, leave along the bigger guys on there....

the TL offers pretty much the same space (a tad bit more) than the 3 series/C class/Infiniti G/etc....

But because the TL is around the same price as the 3/A4/C, most people would cross shop the TL with those cars.

If they were basing their search on size and not price, then the TSX would be in the mix with the 3/A4/C.

The TL target was clearly the BMW 5-series first and foremost. Back in 2002 or thereabouts, as I probably posted previously, I was invited to a drive comparison by Acura to introduce the first TL-S. The cars they provided to test against were a BMW 5 series, an Audi (I believe it was whatever was the equivalent to the A5 back in 2002) and a few other European cars. My recollection is that none of the European models were the base offering but one step up from that. Certainly at that time the size and spec of the TL was more 5-series than 3-series. The thing is the base European models have grown over the last few years (particularly the interior) so that the 3-series is more like the old 5 and the C-Mercs are like the old E-class.

Still I would consider the TSX to be the comparison with the 3-series and C-class and the TL would be one notch up--INHO.
