LOL! -40C? FYI.. -40C is the same as -40F... And what does -40C have to do with how a mat fits? I have spent a lot of time in -40 and not much snow is sticking to anything at those temps.. snow is just loose powder or already packed into ice.. but I digress. I only asked about the comparison to assist the OP in his choices.. but, as always.. it becomes an argument... shocking

I guess some guys drive their cars into muddy areas, wearing work boots and such.. no need for a truck when you have an SH-AWD TL!

I intend to keep the vehicle a long time and don't want to ruin the carpet with snow and salt.

It just makes sense.

If you're not planning on keeping the vehicle forever, then by all means.

I'm used to Celsius and not Fahrenheit.

You may want to read the entire statement instead of singling out something:

"To be honest, the looks of my mats and the logo on it are the least of my concerns in -40 C weather. I prefer keeping the interior of my car as clean as possible."

I don't care what logo is on my floor mats when it's freezing outside and there is snow, dirt and salt on my boots.
I have spent a lot of time in -40 and not much snow is sticking to anything at those temps.. snow is just loose powder or already packed into ice..
And I have spent -40 C winters with snow, dirty snow, slush, ice, salt, grime and sand and it does get dirty.

I wouldn't call this an argument, really.

You asked in which way people feel WeatherTech mats are better than the OEM mats. We've explained ourselves and that's it. People can decide for themselves with the information available.

This is why some people drive a BMW and some drive an Acura. Different strokes for different folks. It's funny we just celebrated that freedom yesterday on the 4th.

I have oem all season all the time between the kids and dog in can get messy back there. If my all season get messed up I think I might try the weathertechs. I like the idea of the sidewalls and how they also go over the hump in the rear.

I had weathertec mats in my Outback and I hated them. They don't have grooves so any snow or water will soak your pants while driving. I'd either roll up my suit pants or put the old floor mats on top, which was dangerous as they would slide around. Ended up getting rid of the weathertec and just used all season mats. I would never buy them again.

I had some weathertech's and no longer a fan. They fit well, but the big logo looks tacky, and they always look like crap unless you just cleaned them.

I got a cheap set similar to the one's originally posted from BJ's at Costco, for around $20, they are heavy, grooved rubber, they don't move around at all. The hide a good bit of wear before looking crappy, then you can clean them or toss em. Grip for your shoes is excellent.
