After trading in my 2010 CBP SH-AWD Tech for 2012 BWP SH-AWD Advance...
I got an excellent deal on a 2012 BWP AWD Advance w/ body kit that I couldn't pass up, for which I took delivery yesterday. My 2010 CBP AWD will be missed.
Yesterday, I did a walk-around when I took delivery and everything looked great.
Tonight, I was wiping off some of the sling from the tire shine the dealer used and I noticed some minor scratches and scuffs (a light 1.5" scratch on the rear passenger door, a light 2" scratch on the passenger door, visible scuff marks on the right side underbody kit under the passenger door, and visible scuff marks on outside of the right front wheel well). I ran my fingers over the paint and can feel the scratches and scuffs, and can also see some discoloration in the paint of whatever scratched/scuffed the car).
To someone walking by, you probably wouldn't notice them unless you were looking for them, but I am nuts about the paint on my car, and I don't feel I should live with them on a car that's 1 day old, where I know I did not put these on the car.
What do you think is reasonable to ask the dealer for them to correct the situation? I doubt they'll swap out the car for a few scratches, but I'm also not sure I want them to try and repair them because of potential paint match issues.

Let them repair it. It sounds like the scratches are minimal; I doubt you'll run into paint match issues.
Have the dealership fix the scratches, and enjoy your new car.

I guess if the 2012 was pre-owned, some minor scratches would be expected. If factory new, it should be as perfect (unfortunately as you drive, it won't stay that way though).

Indeed, call the dealership right away and let them buff them out for you.

Easheer were you at the end of a lease or did you buy the 2010 then trade it 2 years later?
Why not just keep the 2010 until the 2014 TL comes out? It just seems like you traded your car for the same car.

Congrats on your purchase.
What was the mileage of the 2012 TL when you took delivery of the car ?
It isn't unusual for pre-owned or demo cars to have minor body scratches and/or wheel scuffs.

I bought the 2010 and traded it in. I traded in the 2010 for a couple of reasons, and while I agree with your point and would have loved to wait for the 2014, there was one specific reason I traded it in (which I can't disclose) now since I probably won't be buying a new car for a while.

Congrats!
So how do you like the new car? When I switched from my 2010 TL SH-AWD to 2012 TL SH-AWD, I noticed a big difference in the drive and handling due to the 6AT, I am sure. The car was noticeably quieter too. So how do you compare the 2012 to the 2010?

Love the 2012. I actually miss the slightly more aggressive styling of the 2010, but definitely agree with your observations about the difference in drive. Can't get over the difference between the 5AT and 6AT. I didn't think it would be that significant, but a car that was already a pleasure to drive, became even more pleasurable. Acceleration is much smoother through the lower gears.
