Acura TL 2010 - InActive 8 months

Hello,

nice to meet you all, I am new to the forum, I hope I am putting this in the right section/category.

I own a 2010 Acura TL, which has sat inactive since August (8 Months)

Of course the battery is dead, but I have never had a car inactive for an extended period of time. I don't know much about cars, and I was hoping you could give me some advice and how to go about this properly so that I don't damage or shorten the life of the car.

Would it be advisable to call Acura services, or is this something that a person with little to no knowledge about cars like me can do on my own? Is it as simple as just jump starting the car, or do I need do anything with the oil, tires, and or battery? I tried googling about the subject and the answers ranged from just jump starting the car to all sorts of elaborate procedures.

What do you guys recommend?

Thank you very much for your time and patience!

TL;DR: Car inactive 8 months, is ok to just jump start and keep driving?

Charge the battery. Drive away.

Seriously, the fuel would be my biggest concern. Modern fuels can go bad relatively quickly if untreated (correct me if I am wrong).

I would just put some fuel injector cleaner in there and then go fill up the tank

Welcome to AZ..

In addition to the fuel as the others have mentioned, if it was me, I would have the oil changed. Also, depending on the mileage you may want to consider replacing some other fluids as well.

I would

- Oil change
- Check your brakes, hopefully they arnt rusted all over if you left the car outside
- Fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank
- Charge the battery (If it dies again easily then the cells inside the battery are dead and you would need to buy a new one)

Also check tire pressure. Your information light will be on in this case. But good to check tire pressure so you aren't running low.not major but something I would do.

If it's been sitting that long, I'd change out the following:

- Brake fluid
- Engine Oil
- Transmission Fluid
- Transfer Case Fluid
- Differential Fluid
- Coolant
- Air Filters (Engine and Cabin)
- Check tires for dryrot/flat spots
etc

^^ Good Point..

OP-Even if the tread looks good check the sidewalls for dryrot. Keep in mind that if you're still on the OEM tires they're 6+ years old at this point and may be due for a change.
