A1 maint service at 21k

HI all,

I went to my Acura dealer today for A1 maint on my 2009 TL. I have 21k miles and all is good! The maint manual states A1 = oil change & tire rotation, but dealer recommended transmission flush and something else, which to me, seems like would fall under A3. They actually were recommending more (totaling $340), but I only had them do oil, tires, and flush. Does anyone know how many miles before the A3 maint normally displays?

I'd like to simply follow the maint minder, but not sure how to handle the suggested extra work recommendations, as I want to do what's best for the car.

-Thanks much!!!

I personally like the change out the tranny and diff. fluid every 25k miles.

Under severe driving conditions I believe it is 60K along with coolant.

My dealer told me that the transmission flush is recommended every 30k miles. I just had this done. I have a little over 37k miles on my AWD. I had the dealer change the front diff fluid, rear diff fluid and trans fluid. I also needed an oil change.

This is what my dealer recommended.....
- Trans Fluid changed every 30k miles
- Front Diff Fluid changed every 30k miles
- Rear Diff Fluid changed every 15k miles

I follow the maint minder. The dealer will often try to sell you more services.

I'm new to the AWD world so pardon my ignorance here, but wouldn't the front diff need to be changed out more often than the rear since on Type-SHs the front does more work under normal conditions?

I might have mixed them up, I'll have to double check.

I was changing my oil on a more regular basis every 3500 and I would then reset my maintenance minder. According to my dealer this is a bad thing to do as it will not go through the normal maintenance sequence if you do this. When I brought my car in to have the wheels rotated and balanced they asked if I had my rear differential fluid changed. They told me that this was critical and should be changed at 15000 miles and every 30,000 miles after that.

I don't know when my A3 would have come on as I never let any of them come on until this last time. I have changed to Mobil One oil and am just changing when it tells me to so that I do not miss any of the maintenance minders.

Ding ding ding...Winner.
I think some of these dealers (including mine) are way, way of base. Mine wanted me to spend another $150 to clean the intake on my RDX. ??? Although the MID will tell you what is needed, I use the same guidelines above.
