Not going to be much of a fair comparison, first the economy is way down, so everyone's sales compared to last year or even the first year of the 3G woudl be unfair. Also many will be willing to take an 08 deep discount over a 09 so I don't know if numbers will mean much right now, unless the 4G sales are just so abysmal compared to anything else out there.

I would also say that a lot of dealerships probably don't have a full fleet of '09s to sell yet. I know when I pass by my local dealership they still have all the '08s out.

well, you can take the estim ated decline in sales % and just deduct that amount from the first year sales or first month sales of the 3G TL. That would not be entirely accurate, but closer to a fair assumption. I for one don't see the new TL doing as well as the previous one. Which is not good news because the TL was their bread and butter. Can't wait to drive the AWD 6 speed model or the mid model revamp version, that might be able to correct things if it's not to late.

My prediction is that sales of the SH-AWD TL will take off here in the snowbelt in a few weeks when it arrives. I have not seen a single 4G TL on the road yet. For that matter, I haven't seen a single MMC RL, either.

people with money to throw around, well, they threw it at better looking cars. i see plenty of 2009 models where i live. but a TL? not a chance

Funny thing is that a part of me doesn't want to see a lot of 4G TLs on the road. If I do end up buying the 4G, I want it to be somewhat unique. That was my biggest regret in the 3G was that they were so common. Just my opinion...

According to the Wall Street Journal, new car sales in general are down 10-40% this year. Even the almighty Toyota car sales are down 30%. Honda sales are down 25%. 1 in 4 Americans owe more than what their house is worth. Foreclosures are at record levels. The average home today has the same value as that seen in 2004 (and it's getting worse). The US economy is in deep trouble. Unemployment is reaching levels not seen in 30 years. Don't blame slow TL sales on mere styling........these are tough, tough times we're living in.

It's a bad, bad time to be an automaker these days. Everybody is losing money....tons of money. In the news today, a top investor lost $700 million from Ford in only four months!!!! I wouldn't be surprised if almost every automaker next year will start to discontinue some models to save cost.......GM is already about to stop producing the Suburban and Tahoe.....Toyota is said to severely curtail the Sequoia and Tundra. The days of V8-powered cars are almost over. Cheap, reliable cars will once again rule the market.
