4G TL Painted Front Grill

I searched the site for pictures of 4G TL's with the front grill painted and was unable to find any. Can anyone help me with some of the threads to view this? I am thinking about doing it to my 4G TL SH-AWD. Thanks

Yeah they really suck. I got about 4 tiny chips on the grill section that are really annoying when I'm washing or detailing it's really apparent. The paint that the dealership did is obviously not as good as the factory paint, but jeezus, it chipped so easily and quickly?

Have you looked into a clearsheild? The place where I got my tint and light smoke does it. They basically put an invisi shield on all vunerable areas of the vehicle. I guess it's an invisible bra basically. Anyway, I saw pictures of a Bugatti and Lambo they had done it to...looked pretty sweet. I had the shields put over all of my lights.

The same guys that did my grill applied a clear-bra shortly after the paint dried.

I've been back and forth with the clear bra concept. There is enough problems right now with paint matching on my TL I just skipped it, after all, I'm leasing and the long term is not important to me.

I'm not sure of their name--the dealer (Lindsay Acura) took it for me. I bought it on a Saturday and picked it up finished on Wednesday. I paid $900 for everything (I got the back trunk lip painted too).

I believe he had it all along, it was in his garage. I don't care for it, it looks awkward, you might as well paint the rest? By the way, those rims just put the car back in the looks department. I realize you have two sets trying to manage with the Shy-town weather and all, but ugh...they are almost as bad as my 17" stockers. ALMOST. I love the U brick driveway, nice.

I had to get mine repainted because I caught some delaminated tire carcass on the grill that damaged the finish. I don't think a clearbra would have helped - got hit pretty hard at 80mph. Gotta love I 95 between D.C. and Philly. Anyway, the repaint cost $250 and $50 for the clearbra that I had added since it was in for repair. They didn't do a perfect cut job around the Acura logo but you have to get your face right up to it to see the imperfection!

No I didn't want to paint the whole thing....then it would look too close to a Camry. At least by the leaving the surround, it still keeps its identity and makes it unique. But to each his own. Why hatin' the rims, man? In my opinion, they are miles ahead of those fugly 17-inchers.

Not hating so much, please don't put words in my mouth, but just not as good as the other rims like I stated above. :-) Same with PSBerg's. Those are so flat to me. There's no dimensions or depth to it? It's just busy and silver. Yes I'd take them over my fugly 17"s, but if I had the 18" 5-spoke alloys, I'd leave them on all year round, as they look better to me, despite the weather conditions, but that's just me of course.

The look of the center grille painted is starting to grow on me for other colors, but the black I feel should be stealth. All black, including the bumper!

I 100% agree with you on that. Black is black is black. It should be stealth if it were me. However, it still looks good. To each his/her own. I do think that it needs to be done regardless of which way one chooses. Just my

Some like the paint treatment, some not. I think it's personal taste. For me, I like the beak-only painted. I like the silver accents on both the front and rear.

Remember, Pete and I bought our cars last year. Other than Acura, there just didn't seem to be anything else available. I personally did not want to go with 19" because I didn't want to stiffen the ride any more than I had too. The 18" that I put on actually have a different number of spokes (10) than Pete's 19s (9). My 18s were the only thing Acura had. Now reading Pete's input, I guess I could have went ahead and got the 19s. However, there was a huge price difference between the two. I like the slab-sided look of the wheels. I think it goes with the masculine lines of the car. It completes the styling by not showing the brakes.
My wife isn't crazy about the shine but we both agreed at the time that they look better than the stock 17s.

I'm sorry I'm missing your point PS, because I also bought my car last year, in fact probably two weeks after you, and Pete's first Basque red was shortly before us, he got the AWD later? My comments in this thread is that the 5-spoke alloy's look best, and the CBP grill looks better painted for my tastes?

I dig that look! It doesn't look "ricey" at all. Sweet. Does anyone have any other color with a completely painted grill? I saw some Basque Red TL's with the middle painted, like Pete's CBP, but I'm curious if anyone has painted a PMM, Grigio or BB.

By the way nice picture, your neighbor's roof covers your TL perfectly. :-)

I plan to have my BBP painted next week. I'm still not sure if I'm just going to just paint the beak or the whole thing.

Not a big fan with the all-black version, but the partial white looks sweet. I'd also love see other colors (in particular the grigio).

Thanks.........Got it done at my dealer before I took delivery. I too have the rear work done. They did an outstanding job. Blending the paint to make the bumber in the rear is tricky (especially with the WDP). So, make sure you address the issue with your painter before it is done and see what they have to say.

Is it possible to order front grill from somewhere? how much does it cost?
If not too expensive I get one and paint it. So I can switch back and forth if I need to

I'm in the process of trying to decide what to buy. I'm glad I found this site! I test drove the SH-AWD recently and fell in love with it. But like others, I am not impressed with the grill. I really like both options shown here--the full as well as the partial. Any thoughts on what it might look like if the outside were painted and the shield were left alone? Thanks.
