4G Overlays now available from Blue Bat

I am a newbie here to acurazine, I purchased my 4G (FWD Tech, Polished Metal Metallic) in October. I found this site and have been an avid reader ever since. I contacted Blue Bat about being a prototype 4G for his overlays, and we met up today to get the testing complete. These overlays should be available very soon. I should have mine completed by next weekend and will post pics.

I look forward to seeing some of your work on the TL, particularly Black. You could really go off? Is the vinyl easily removable?

Cool, you beat me to it. I bought some tint film and was going to cut my own overlay for the rear reflectors but I might as well just wait for yours. Let us know when they are ready.

Install is complete!!! Took a litte over 3 hours for a total of 12 overlays. Front head lights, front turns, fogs, side mirros, tails and rear reflects. It looks sick!!! Bat took pics and will be posting soon. We used his 6/10 tint, which is equal to 20%.

Well all fails go to bold.

Is it easy to remove vinyl overlays? And is there any residue left behind?

I'd like to see some clear pics and what was done to the front?

my question is Steve, what does a tinted license plate look like lol.

For vinyl overlays I can't say much, but they have a sticky adhesive on one side so I'd assume there would be residue but its probably nothing some good powerful cleaner won't get off. All I know is that recently vinyl is more preferred to than spray for tinting the tail lights (and cheaper! - $80-$120 vs $200+...or you can DIY).

I sure do bmode.....My experience with BlueBat was great. I only got the 6/10 half tints so they don't cover and difuse the HID's. They cost $20 for the pair.

I dig it, and I'm intrigued? Bat is killing us with suspense, I look forward to the professional looking pics.

So something like Goo be gone would take off the adhesive residue?

One thing I never quite understood about Blue's overlays is when you say 6/10 half tint, does that mean its a complete overlay but the shape that would cover the HID is clear or do you mean its a cut vinyl just to cover the front light part?

You had no problems putting it on? Just used a regular hair blow dryer?

It's a cut overlay that just covers either half of the headlight keeping the lights clear. On my tails we used a overlay that just covers the red lights leaving the clear section clear. It looks real clean. We used a blow dryer to apply heat and soapy water to postion the overlay. You can remove by adding heat and peeling off. Goo gone can remove any residue left behind. I talked with bat tonight he is posting my TL tommorow.

BuckVegas is right. The 1/2 tints do not cover the HID's, and the 6/10 represents a 20% tints. All you do is get the tints wet with a soap/water mixture. Get the headlight wet and apply the tint. Use a straight edge to get the excess water out of the tint and use a regular hair dryer to get rest of the air bubbles out of the tint. The hair dryer is used to curve the tint around the surface (headlight or tail light). Honest guys, the tints go on very easily.

Is there any legal implications, particularly California with messing around with the exterior lights on the car. I'd hate to drop these on and get a fix it ticket.

I'll be doing this for sure. I priced out tinting my tail lights and the guy said $200. I asked if they were 24k gold overlays lol. The picture Iceman posted is sick. If I can get my lights looking like that, I'm all over it.

Thanks for the compliment hydro! I waas thinking the normal smoked tail lights would cover the awesome lookin silver trim in the light. I convinced the guy to overlay the red light and the signal light just to try out. It worked out so great! I'm pretty happy..I'm just curious what Batmobile did.

Hi guys. My apologies for not getting my pics up yet. I will this weekend, promise! I got only an hour sleep the other night trying to process a bunch of orders, last night I crashed when I got home, due to only an hour sleep the night before . Its tough at times when you have two young kids, and a fulltime job on top of all this. I promise, you wont be disapointed in what I will have to offer for the new 4th gen . Plus, we will be installing the turns signal indicator and foglight overlays tomorrow, so I'll get good pics of those .

Yes, goo gone will remove any residue leftover. However, when removing them, simply heat the overlay up and slowly remove to reduce any chance of leftover residue

I just got my car back last night, it was being fitted for an intake. Bat has asked me not to post until he puts them up for sale, plus his pics will look better as I only have an iphone to use at the moment. But once he posts the pics, I will take some additional night shots to post.

There are some benefits to living in Socal as far as mods are concerned. I am working with AFEPower they are launching a whole new division of imports. My TL went in for testing this week, and they were able to build a Short Ram intake, heat shield and throttle spacer. They wanted to do a cold air however apparently the new TL has some limited space and they couldnt fit the 3 inch tube, they didnt want to use a 2 3/4 inch. They are going to have it made and ready for install in late march. They are sending me the dyno info today, they said with the new intake it added 13hp. I am hoping to get a jump on a few other mods. I will post as I get information from the companies, right now there really isnt much out.

I am sure someone will figure out how to do a CAI in the 09. You cant beat free parts, so I will settle for the SRI for now.

So are there any concerns with the law in California with vinyl overlays?

Bmode:

I can't quote the law for California, and I asked the same question to Bat. He said that he hasn't heard of people running into many problems. I would say rolling around with tinted front windows is much more noticable than overlays. They fit so nice that you really cant tell they are an overlay. I am personally not worried about a fix it ticket.

Cmonnnnnn post pictures, I'm dying to see it!! You got me feenin now lol.

Also, I saw someone post that the prices were $20 each overlay. Is that accurate? If so, I'll be getting one for every light on the damn car lol.
