4G CDM Power Folding Mirrors (my 2nd project)

Hello! new here, former member of DA () forum.

Just received a pair of OEM Honda folding mirrors for my TL. I did this project to my accord mugen 2010 using the isnpire folding mirrors. I'll post pictures of the process like the accord.

I will use the mirrors with the Inspire mirrors switch. I tested my accord's (inspire) switch on my TL and worked fine.

By error received the LH mirror in RED, mine is Bronze. So now I need to send it to the shop.

here is the switch that I'm going to use:

looks good, might be possible.

so your saying that they made power folding mirrors in cdm already and all your doing is hooking up the power to the switch?

Friend of a friend has already done this in NYC on his 4.5G so I know its possible, I think we'd all appreciate a DIY though.

The switch get powered when you connect the plug. I only need to connect the 2 wires (folds in and out) to the pins located in the switch. then runs the wires to the LH mirror and under the dash for the LH.

Once I get painted the other mirror to match the color I'll post picture of the process step by step. I did the same on my accord. You can check the other forum to see the pictures.

$150/pair OEM Honda from China. I need to re-paint one of them because they sent me the LH in red and my car is bronze metallic. So, at the end I'll go to paid $250 for both. For me its ok they still genuine not aftermarket mirrors.

Ok guys I bought the mirrors from a guy in ebay. Here is the link:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw...rrors&_sacat=0

Here is another vendor:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw...rrors&_sacat=0

This is what I did in my Accord 8th gen

to complete the folding option using JDM switch+chinese mirrors.
DRIVER SIDE FIRST!
1. Put 2 wires with terminal (taken from an old harness) on the OEM harness.

2. connect the harness to the switch to get powered. You need a tester light to check which one get power when you push the folding button.

3. Connect the powered wire (fold In) to the Pin #4 and ground wire (fold Out) to the Pin #5 on the mirrors plug for test purpose.

4. Now connect the wires from switch to the mirrors. You need to remove it and find the blue with black stripes and connect to the wires from the switch.
AND THAT'S IT! LETS GO TO THE PASSENGER SIDE!!!
1. Now run the 2 wires through the door jam (you need patience here).

2. be sure that the wire does not interfere with the door glass canal.

3. Now connect the wires from switch to the mirrors. Find the blue with black stripes and connect to the wires from the switch.
4. Run the 2 wires from the door jam under the dash to the driver's side.
5. Run the 2 wires from the RH door through the LH door jam.
6. FINALLY: connect the 2 positive LH & RH wires that Folds In to the powered (folds In) cable on the same. Do the same for the negative (folds Out) wires.

7. Put back the switch (obviously haha)

I hope that helps all members here!!

would there be a way to connect em, so when you shift the car in park, that the mirrors fold up automatically??

i have the setting where my doors unlock and lock automatically when the car is shifted from and to park.

Yes, I don't know how to do it. But I saw someone who connected them to the main switch under the dash. Automatically folds In the mirrors when you turn off the car and when you lock the doors.

I haven't found them for $150 per pair, either. I think he might be mistaken and it may be $300 for the pair. As much as I love the idea of the power folding mirrors, $400 ($300 for mirrors and $100 for swtich) is a bit pricey. My car only has a thousand miles on it... if I can resell my OEM mirrors, maybe it would be worth it.

And... does the Accord mirror have the nice TL tint to them? Or, are they basic mirrors with no tinting?

im sure you can switch your stock blue mirrors and put them on the folding one..

i agree, its pricey, but if you got the money, id say do it..

unfortunately, i live in socal, where i do not need them so its more of a "cool" thing than anything else.

waiting for the DIY from OP.

The folding mirrors has the blue tint because they are OEM. First, I paid $200 for both, then the vendor refund me $50 because he sent the LH in wrong color.
I contacted the vendor and did the purchase by e-mail using paypal. You should ask him by e-mail and do you offer.

Sure I will make de DIY for the TL. Now the LH mirror is on the shop for re-painting.

No, you cant switch the blue mirrors because the folding are wayyy more bigger.

how much bigger are they? When you get a pic, can you send one from a decent distance? I like the long linear look of the TL and wonder if the bigger boxier mirrors will look out of place.

Ok... I must be missing something or I must have been at work too long today. But, the Ebay links are to OEM Acura mirrors. We all have those already. I thought the post said that Accord mirrors are needed to make this work as the TL does not have power folding mirrors. Somebody help me out here... it's been a long day.

op,

can you tell me if your able to take apart the OEM blinkers off the side mirrors by taking the mirror out first?

i need to fix my driver side blinker, seems to be not working but i do not want to take my door panel out to do it, i was wondering if i can just pop the mirror off and work from there.

any help would be appreciated.

You don't need to remove the door panel. Just remove the black cover behind the mirror and the 3 nuts attached to it.
