I want to change my automatic shift knob. I was wondering what the specific diameter is and if there is a special type of knob needed. Any help is appreciated.

Does this simply screw on/off or is there a unique way to install?

To replace, you need a short Phillips screwdriver,for safety you will need to put on the parking brake, turn on the ACC mode, switch the selector to D or S, slide down the silver base, remove the plastic cover around the selector switch, unscrew 2 front short screws and get it out.
