technically speaking, the awd, technology, and interior put into this car puts it up there with $50,000+ cars, except it tops out at $42,995 and as someone point out, will only go down from there. that's not opinion.

ugly is an opinion.

if you still can't figure out the audience this car will sell to, then you obviously aren't in it. you like your 08 tl-s? great? what does that have to do with the 4G TL? pretty much nothing.

LMAO .... thank God this is an online forum ... in real life if you call out others like this, you'd better be prepared for the consequences ....

Some of the 3G guys might be going a bit overboard with the trashing of the new 4G TL, but def. not all the 3G owners ... for myself, I'm willing to give the 4G benefit of the doubt to see if these radical changes would grow on me in a few years ....

He's not "calling" people out because of their opinions but rather because they feel like they have to put them in EVERY thread regardless of the topic or intent of the OP.

If a thread is created to talk about the push button start feature, why would you post comments in there talking about how ugly the car is, and how disappointed you are with Acura? That's just stupid. I understand that going off topic sometimes can help give a thread new life and bring different perspectives. But to say that the grill is "hideous" and the car "fugly", when the topic of the thread is the 6 MT SH-AWD, is very ignorant. What does the car being ugly have to do with a discussion about the 6 MT SH-AWD? Nobody wants to talk about how ugly the car is in EVERY SINGLE thread.
yea I understand what you're trying to say , and I understand the point of the OP-, and I agree with the post that ultimatley this is an online thread and individuals WILL continue to post their views, and will continue to get off topic with certain statements. Thus...deal with it-

Just saw 09 TL

Just had my 30,000 mile done on my 04 TL, saw the 09 in the showroom. I have to say the car is much better in real life. I can't believe how big it is, very nice inside very solid on the out side. Will test drive when they have some in about 2 weeks. I was thinking of not buying any more Acura's but my mind is changing.

Thumbs up 3G TL Owner

I currently own a 04 3G and have to say I do not have a problem with the new design. I think people tend to have a knee jerk reaction when something they are familiar with changes. I think the 3G design had it's haters initially, but after a few months everyone seemed to warm up to it. I love my 3G, but I am considering purchasing a new SH-AWD version when they become available, I will be keeping my 3G as well; perhaps handing it down to someone else in the family.

However....this is what happens...

This is why forums have moderators to keep things on topic so that we don't have to just "deal with it"

Agree, 3g is quiet style vs 4g look at me, the push start comes at a high price in dollars and grill/smilely rear end...if the 09 rides, handles and gos great (like a lot-lot better than 3g) it will over come some of the negs...plus to to get a new TL will require a 4g as soon as 3gs sold...

I have no problem with people going off topic, because truth be told, going off topic is gonna happen. However, if you are going off topic for no other reason but to be ignorant, then that's when I have a problem. Going off topic can help prove a point sometimes, so sometimes it necessary. But if you're going off topic just to be an asshole, why bother? Stating your opinions in the proper forums is not that hard, can you deal with that?

It sure isn't surprising to see all the negative comments. Seems retarded to make a thread, and blame it on one particular group.

I have to say that the 4G may or may not appeal to the same demographic but who gives a shit, just look at the spec's. The SH-AWD model with 305 hp and 273 lbs-ft of torque is going to phuckin scream. Loaded to the hill with technology like right out of the gate USB intergration I-Pod connectivity, unlike my 3G 08 Type S, and real time weather. Call it what you will, a sports sedan or a grocery go getter, it's a nice ride.

To the OP: Your way of thinking is very communistic. :communist

You must be a Marketers dream: Easy to Please. Last time I checked the U.S. is a capitalistic society, a consumer should be able to buy goods in the market based on value and personal taste.

Not only is this an open forum, comments that are related to the subject that may be positive or negative should be welcomed in order for discussions to be opened up.

That is the damn problem. The topic of a thread titled "Car and Driver Acura TL SH-AWD Manual First Drive" doesn't have a damn thing to do with the exterior of the car.

this thread itself serves no purpose...this should go to rambling...

RAMBLING..please..this is a 4G TL forum, for crying out loud..

It's more interesting to me to read a thread where people say the exterior is ugly or good or whatever, then some stupid rambling comments

Watch it buddy.... the OP might expand the thread title to 2G and 3G
(that was a joke)

Seriously, I think the point of this thread is for folks to keep things on topic as much as possible. For example, back when we were first learning about the details of this car, I posted a thread (see here) that showed the color chart as well as the details of the trim information. I had this out days if not a week before I saw it elsewhere. Gregg felt that this was a repost (although it had new information) and locked the thread.

We disagreed a bit in PM but that's water under the bridge now. The point is that at one time, the mods were aggressively stopping reposts or off topic discussion. I think they should be backing up the OP on this issue and not taking an entirely "hands off" approach.

And on that note....To the OP and others - I think you've made your points and I agree after going back and reviewing all the other threads in 4G. Off Topic discussions are going to happen but when they have nothing to do with the original intent of the thread, we (or at least me) will step in. If any of you find something objectionable, please feel free to PM me or any of the other mods. This thread has served its purpose and is closed.
