2012 and up TL SH-AWD owners
Hi all
Im thinking about the Tl Shawd. My wife owns a 07 mdx sport. We love it except for the clunky worn out suspension I have to replace.
The dealership gave me a 2012 Tl loaner and u liked it a lot. I'm assuming I would like the Shawd even more.
I was thinking of a 2014 charger rt awd hemi... Nice car.. But not as elegant as acura.
The Tlx is coming soon also so wondering if I should wait for those to see how they are.
Are you happy with your Shawd? Is it quiet in the interior at Highway speeds?
Thanks

I bought a new 2013 TL w/Tech SH-AWD last summer. So far, so good; it is a responsive car for its size. It is not super quiet, but the awesome audio system will easily cover up any road or drivetrain noise!

I'm a 2012 FWD owner and I love the car but road noise is not a TL strong-suit, it's not terrible but it's not where it should be in this price bracket. If you aren't in a rush I'd wait to see the TLX but if you like the TL and want a good deal now is the time because it's the last model year and the incentives are impressive on them. Something else to consider is that you would be buying a generation that's been out since 2009 so if you get a 12+ year model it's got almost all the kinks worked out where as the TLX will be a brand new car that will likely come with some issues since it will be the first production year.

Thanks for replies guys. When we bought our mdx in 09 it was our first high end car purchase for us middle class folk.. I love it except for road noise when tires wear a little, and the clunky suspension now at 100k miles. The expensive magnetic sport shocks will cost me to replace but since it's paid off I think it's worth the investment to run the car for another 5 years and 100k miles.

2013 SH-AWD owner since September. Great car, road noise is not bad to me but I also have my music up. Audio is great! Car is solid. Big and spacious for sports sedan.
If I were you, I would wait until the TLX comes out. Wish I did.

it has great Value!!!
the american brands still have a little bit left to be desired in terms of reliability and value. butt, they are damn close!
I wouldnt go and say the 4G looks more elegant than the '14 charger...
both are different cars and serve different purposes!
although, you'll find that the 4G TL will keep up with the big v8 hemi, as that's a boat of a car.

Well I can comment on the charger to TL move. I had a 2012 Charger Hemi AWD and moved to a 2013 TL SHAWD Tech Navi when the job gave me a car allowance. The awd system is awesome in the TL with torque vectoring. The seats in the TL are great and the car corners great as well. And it is an entry level luxury car.
The Charger awd system is not as complex. It engages if it senses wheel slip, the wipers are on, turn off ESC, or the temp is below 37. It is very roomy on the inside...my wife and I did a 16 hour drive and she wasn't complaining. The 8.4 inch touchscreen is is better than the TL.
IMHO, the Acura is very refined and handles great. But I miss the kick in the pants feeling of the hemi everyday. I intend to get a middle of the road work car with the allowance and get another hemi charger in 2 years. But that is me, I know people will think I am crazy but it is what I like.

Bought my '2012 TL-SHAWD in April of 2011. Love the car Could be quieter, but then I am running summer performance tires. Having said that, it is still quiet enough to carry on a conversation and enjoy the fantastic stereo.

I just love the feeling of a v8 RWD vehicle.
something about kicking the rear end out and powering out through the straight is intoxicating to me!
Although, I cant afford fuel for a V8 sports car at the moment, butt, will own one later in my life!
and it wont be a wimpy R/T either.
I miss the 2010 SRT challenger that I had the pleasure of driving for a month in 2010.

I've had my '12 SH-AWD since Oct '11
I love the car. Its not a vault, but road noise is not bad and if you upgrade your tires I'm sure it'd be better. The stock Michelin's are less than stellar
The AWD is amazing, I had trouble getting out of the car the first months of ownership, we took so many unnecessary trips...
While waiting to see the new TLX is probably wise, I would never buy a first year model of anything, and seeing that this redesign includes a brand new transmission, I can guarantee there will be bugs. I don't care to be a guinea pig. However by waiting for the TLX debut, you may be able to score an outgoing 2014 TL for a song
