2012+ SH-AWD engine question...
Since the 2012 was the mid-cycle refresh, lots of little things were tweaked and changed. Acura even mentioned engine tweaks for both engines which improved fuel mileage in conjunction with the new 6AT transmission itself.
However Acura never stated that tweaking the engine to make it more efficient increased or decreased power! Common sense states that tweaking the engine especially the intake would affect power however minuscule it may be....
So I kept looking from official sources until I found this:
Any reason why Acura didn't add the 7 horse bump to the 2012+ spec sheet?

So I kept looking from official sources until I found this:
"Each cylinder head uses a single camshaft, turned by an Aramid-fiber reinforced toothed drive belt for long service life. Compared to the camshafts used in the previous 3.7L V-6 (fit to the MDX), the 2012 TL's 3.7L camshaft lobes deliver more lift (4-percent more on intake, 10-percent more on exhaust), more valve opening duration (4-percent more on intake, 14-percent more on exhaust), and increased intake/exhaust valve overlap. In addition, valve timing has been optimized for the TL's intake and exhaust systems.
Intake port design on the 3.7-liter SH-AWD® engine has been improved enough that the new ports alone add seven horsepower versus earlier designs. Compared to the 3.5L V-6, intake valve weight has been reduced 13-percent due to removal of material from the valve head."

The stated improvements are not about the 2012's 3.7L-V6 when compared to the pre-2012's 3.7L-V6. They are the improvements for the 2009+ 's (2012 included) 3.7L-V6 over the 2009+ 's 3.5L-V6.
Therefore, the 2012+ 3.7L-V6 is identical to the previous 2009-2011 model years.
