I have a 2011 TL SH-AWD and was wondering do the 2012 headlights fit on the 11’.
I like the darker look of the 12’ headlight and what to get rid of all the light chrome in the headlights without having to bake the head light and spray paint the inside.
If it doesn’t fit does anyone have any other ideas on how to black out the inside of the headlights?

 

Yes they fit, but you could also open yours up and paint them black. Would be a lot less expensive.

 

How is that done?

 

I would just open them up with a oven bake them then pull them apart.

I plan to do mine soon and remove the yellow amber lense

 

the head light covers are held in place with a butyl sealant. a long time ago, maybe decades ago, people figured out that you could heat this sealant up to open the two halves.
the most common way is to stick the head lights into the oven to heat the sealant up.
then once you have the two halves apart, you carefully without adding fingerprints and without breaking anything inside, carefully do whatever you want to them... can retrofit more projectors, can paint the housing, can add halo rings, can do whatever you think might look cool.
then you reseal it

 

I'm doing this mod tomorrow.... I'll be back with pic's. Only problem is..... I've heard guys using different paint. Matte, satin, gloss black......idk what paint the 2012s used.
