i think the 4g looks really good with the 3g grill ... acura should've done that instead of the shield

For the luv of just a grille? What about the engineering, the mechanics, the technology...and I'm not picking but the view you have of the new M looks like that CYRANO DE BERGERAC cat...or that JIMMY "SCHNOZZOLA" DURANTE dude with the really big nose.

JM2010 SH-AWD

Road & Track on-line has some new pics posted of what they are calling the 2012 TL SH-AWD. Much clearer look of what the front and back treatments are going to be but still camo'd a bit to hide the details.

The changes are subtle but recognizable to most of us on this board. The general public may or may not be able to tell the difference.

I might take another crack at it. The new bumber line should be more straight and should come out a bit more. The lower part of the grill should be less visible too.

The technology, engineering and mechanics convinced me to buy my 4G and keep it 18 months, but I gre tired of looking at the nose and a little of the tail and worse yet the color. I love a silver car and the 4G PM color is more a muted beige/silver. I will admit the 4G AWD I had was built better than the M37S I drive now, but since I rarely keep a car 2 years I wanted something nicer to look at.

In my opinion this makes the TL look DATED! Making it look like a 3G is going backwards. If you want a car that looks like a 3G, then go get a used 3G TL... Acura did it right!!!

I wounder if the color of the grill will change compared to the 2010 model year(maybe to something a little darker).The smaller grill in the back end of the car seems to be smiling back less at you.I agree with the statement that the general public will not notice the difference.

there are a lot of cars that when they first come out - people's first reaction is to NOT like it..and then as time goes by, it grows on them. I remember the first time I saw the new bangle 5 series..I thought i tlooks HORRIBLE...and now it looks nice. When I see an "older" 5 series, it still looks nice, but it also looks "old" and hte "new" design seems more modern and fresh.

the new TL was the same way. when I first saw it I hated it. called it "fugly". since then,I've had a chance to DRIVE one...and see them much m ore. I actually like them now. If I were to sell my boxster and look for a replacement for my RL - I woudl go fore a sporty sedan and a TL SH-AWD would probalby be what I'd buy! my only issue would be auto or 6 speed...

My concern is they may be dumbing down the front end too much. The Power Plenum seemed to be the biggest issue, but they are flatening the front end. I was not too bad with "Keen Edge" design, but to take the edges off the bumpers I think will make the car look like it is trying to hide in the crowd. I hope they learned from this and the 5G and next RL benefit. The ZDX seems to have some nice lines, if they could take that and port it to the TL they may have a hit.

^ I agree. I generally like the looks of the 4G a lot, despite a few details that could be better handled (e.g. rear reflectors). I thought the whole idea with the new styling cues was not to hide in the crowd. I hope Acura is not retreating from this theme already. The car will lose its undeniable "road presence" if they veer too far.

The car has one of the most unique and daring designs out there.

Can't figure out how folks want it to stay static and just be a tweaked 3G, that's like going to Ruth's Chris for chicken tenders...wtf

I agree as well, especially re: the rear reflectors. Looks like they may be covered up in the spy shot below. If these are indeed the reflectors, I think the new placement (and bumper overall) look good IMO.
