2012 Acura TL (nosejob)
#202
I saw a 2012 prototype on the Pacific Coast Highway near Monterey back in August. I was driving north, it was heading south so I got a good head-on view. I pointed it out to my wife. We agreed that the nose job was neither a plus nor a minus.
At the end of the day, I've grown accustomed to the looks of my wife's 2010 TL (black/black, tech, SH-awd, 6MT). I always look forward to driving it.

This is a reasonable question. I'm sure the economy doesn't help but I also have to say I never once heard anyone use the term "fugly" to describe the Acura TL until the current generation was released and I've heard that same word used by friends across the country. Some of my friends who enjoyed the TL in the past were told in no uncertain terms by their wives they won't be getting one even though they liked their older TL.

"But Acura dealers might suggest calling it a styling disaster. The TL sedan is Acura’s best-selling vehicle, yet sales are less than half of what they were only four years ago. These spy images prove Acura heard the criticism and is scaling back the size of the controversial styling feature. "
I guess anything's possible, and maybe they've thought of a creative way to do it, but it seems to me that the biggest problem with a mild redesign is that the original 4G grille extends upwards into the aluminium engine cover.
You can't really extend the aluminium bonnet forward because in addition to adding to the design and tooling costs, you're also going to have to add the cost of that extra alloy to the sticker price.
You can easily redesign the size of the hole, or the angle of the beak, but I'm very curious how they're going to handle that part of the grille that extends above the angle of the fascia, upwards toward the aluminium lid.

It is difficult for me to understand how there could be any kind of substantial visual change in the nose without spending huge amounts of money on redesign, and then massive amounts of money on retooling for a car that's supposed to get its FMC for MY 2014.

Therefore it's up to the Automotive Aftermarket to offer some alternatives, which at this point there are'nt to many out there.

Mademoiselle Chanel!!
That car is so popular here in the CSRA area...it kind of has that Pichachoo look...but hey it works. Different isn't for everyone, that's why there are choices. So folks are shallow Hal's others do the Ray Charles wrist check, what point am I making, I have no freaking idea, LMBO!

^ Nice! It seems (at least in the pic) that the grill flows perfectly with the rest of the vehicle. The grill is in near perfect symmetry and in ideal proportions relative to the car.
Where did you get that pic btw?

The front is salvageable as proven by some of the modifications done by members of this site....the rear however, is where I would like to see some changes.
It looks too massive to me; perhaps because the tail lights are too small for the size of the rear? or is it than extreme angle they are at? I really don't care for any mfgrs car that smiles at me, even if it's the best value for the buck TL.

Burning Brakes
I finally figured out what the 4G front end looks like between the buck tooth and the squinted headlights. I'm guessing the designers who created the current TL must have watched this, smoked some joints and then created the new TL.
