2012 Acura TL base pricing question
MSRP is 35k my dealer is offering it to me for 31.5k. Should i spend the extra dollars for a tech package? i dont care about NAV.
only thing i plan on doing is tinting windows and maybe adding OEM under spoiler kit.

Navigation isn't the only thing that the Tech Package offers though. Taken from edmunds.com...
"The Technology package available on both trims adds upgraded tires, a rear spoiler, a rearview camera, keyless ignition/entry, GPS-linked and solar-sensing climate control, upgraded leather upholstery, upgraded interior metal trim, automatic phone book downloading, a navigation system, real-time traffic and weather, voice control and a 10-speaker Acura/ELS surround-sound audio system with digital music storage. Springing for the Advance package includes all that along with larger wheels (18-inch wheels on the base TL or 19-inch wheels on the SH-AWD), ventilated front seats and a blind spot warning system."
Even if I wasn't worried about having navigation, I would want those other goodies, so I would get the package

We went thru the same decision and ended up with the base. Here are our thoughts...
The draw of Tech for us were the backup camera, the nicer leather, and better sound. The Nav to us is a negative. It has to be updated at too high of a cost (and hassle) or else it gets out of date and the traffic info is a subscription. The hard drive in the sound system isn't of much use either since it can only be loaded via a "normal" CDs and we plan to use an IPOD anyway. The DVD-A capability is obsolete.
My wife will drive the car and likes the wood accents of the base. The 17s will give a better ride at the expense of a bit of handing. The push to start is cool but a key is OK.
If we could have gotten the package for less without Nav we would have gotten it. I guess if there is an over supply of Techs (our area has a lot!) they will get closer to a base price and be more worth it.
BTW, where are you? Did the price include destination? We got the base for 32,660 including destination.
The TL is so nice base or Tech I am sure you will like whatever you decide.

there is nothing bad about the tech package.. simple as that..

that's a good price for a base. With the .9% financing it's a good time to buy the TL now.
Do your research on the tech package, see if it's worth the 3k extra for it. You are paying for what you need, not for other people's opinion.

I didnt get the tech package either . I use my iphone with navigon as my gps and I can live without the backup cam and push button start.
Do add the rear spoiler to it though, I had it installed at dealer cost for about $400 dollars.

Now..this may change based on how the new ILX does in the market. There are rumors that the next gen TSX and TL will become one car (no one knows the name yet). The reason is that the next gen Accord (due in Sep/Oct 2012) as MY2013 will become a "world car" and will be sold everywhere with the same body style rather than 2 distinct styles like we have now.
If you keep on waiting...there will always be something 'newer and better' each year. Life is too short..buy what you want now. Good luck!

That sounds like a very good pfice for the car. Ya if you know that you don't need all the bells and whistles, I stick to the base model.

I have a new TL
i went through same thoughts. i didn't need the Navigation because it gets dated and just more electronics to worry over, so i bought the base. i would have loved all the other tech features.
I love the car and the dealership-john eagle in houston has been PERFECT all the way from sales to service!
i paid right at $32.5 with tint and mud flaps added.
