My car started not wanting to take off from a stop, sometimes stalling. It also shifts erratic and dies when stopping like it is still engaged. Maybe the torque converter?

You need to read the codes, and fortune-telling on the coffee grounds does not lead to anything good.

Did you check the fluid level?

It turned out to be the EGR valve & Mass Air Flow Sensor. Its a lot better than the transmission, which is what it felt like. I usually repair everything on this car myself but wanted it diagnosed anyway properly. $1400 later!

WOWZERS!!! $1400?!?! how much did they charge in parts? EGR is roughly $100 and the MAF sensor is about $150! Both are very easy to replace as well.
