Question 2009 TL w. Tech PKG vs 2012 TL w. Elite PKG

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum as I'm looking for my first car. After hours of research, I've decided to get a used Acura TL with SH-AWD for my life up here in Canada.

So I found these two TLs: a 2009 SH-AWD with Tech PKG which has less than 100k km (~62k miles) for $12,900, and a 2012 SH-AWD with Elite PKG which has around 150k km (~93k miles) for $15,900. The price difference is about 3k Canadian.

Assuming they have the same condition, are blindspot monitoring, ventilated seats and a 6 speed transimission (which leads to a better fuel economy) worth the 3k? Also, are these price reasonable? I appreciate your input!

Seems like the kinds of prices you would see here in canada, Thing is the '12 is newer but has more mileage. Kind of a hard choice but the '12 seems more desirable. Be patient though and shop around as much as possible.

Make sure to read through the posts to know all the big issues you might encounter with both models. Keep in mind that the 2009 model is OUT OF THE 8 YEARS EXTENDED WARRANTY of the torque converter. Do your homework before you shell out the money. Good Luck

That's actually a good point to keep in mind. Thanks!

I would opt for the 09 instead of the '12, simply based on mileage. The features you'll find in the 2012 will be different since it is an ELITE model.
But if you can wait, hold out and find you a clean TL with the right mileage and year......

where in Canada are you located?

Ontario. I'm actually leaning towards 2012 model simply because I prefer the overall look as well as the extra techs. I'll wait and keep looking for a better one. Thanks!

I have a 2012 advanced with 205k miles Bought it over a year ago for 10.5k USD

cooled seats and the 6spd auto were the factors for me.

Bought it with 180k miles. AGE is worse than Mileage in my life experience.

Only issue is the 3.7 like to drink oil, but that's only sometimes with some cars. I just use a high mileage 5w 30 instead and have very little consumption issues.

Thanks for the input! Glad to know that TL runs strong at such a high mileage. I'm now looking at '13-14 models, they are a bit more pricey, but it seems they have less issues. So far I've found one with 97k km for $19.5k and one with 73k km for $21k, haven't decided which one to go. I was leaning towards the latter one, but not sure if it's worth the extra $$, plus it was used as a 'commercial vehicle' according to Carfax.

Cool install! Did you have any issues with your rear speakers/sub? Did the HFL still work for making calls or did you run another mic for bluetooth calling? Do all your stereo controls work on the steering wheel?
