2009 Acura TL vs. Hyundai Genesis
#81
I had an 08 Tiburon GT that i got FULLY loaded back in november. The V-6, 5 speed, premium sound system, 17's, Sunroof, etc etc. It was like a 23K sticker price, got it down to 20,500.
I was NOT impressed. I mean, it was a fun car going from an auto to a manual daily, but quality is unimpressive. Not to talk down about it, but speaking purely factual, by 2000 miles the shift knob's paint was completely worn out, if you pulled the door closed too quickly, the shroud on the handle would pop off (i'm a 6'5 tall 225 lb guy, so i tend to throw things around with a bit of force, but nothing out of the ordinary) I know i had to re-install the outter handle piece at least 20 times while i had the car. I actually gave it to my parents a few months ago, as I was that unimpressed by the cars antics.
The sound system with two aftermarket kenwood subwoofers was phenominal. I had many compliments on that, hopefully enough that it distracted from the rest of the flaws i came across during my duration of having that car as a daily, LOL.
I do like the way the Genesis came out, however personally the coupe reminds me FAR too much of the 1st generation Tiburon, which to me was far from good looking, but after owning the 08 and realizing that Hyundai still has a ways to go on overall quality, personally, i would be a bit conscious about buying a new one, Genesis or not.
I will say they hold up VERY well to the 10yr/100K warranty. They are very mod friendly, in fact you can get Short throw shifters, STB's, sway bars, CAI's, etc, right from the dealer. I spoke to the houston area rep for Hyundai, and as long as nothing fails that could be the cause of a mod install, then it's warrantable. Unlike dodge, where if you put in a CAI, the entire warranty is voided.

Well, just from seeing the specs on the upcoming Genesis Coupe, it should more than easily smoke the Tiburon GT....and a lot of other so-called "sporty" coupes.
