2009 - 2012 headlight swap...

Does anyone know if the 2012 headlights will fit the 2009 model? I did a search and came up with nothing.

I'm guessing they should, would really be interested in finding out. I wonder if the front bumper can be replaced by a 2012 bumper...

I've been told by Curry Acura techs that they do not. If you want blacked out headlights send JnC a PM.

They look the same to me on these diagrams, they are almost the same part number except the 2010 is 33101-TK4-A01 and the 2012 is 33101-TK4-A11. Of course I can't back anything up since I haven't tried to fit the '12 headlights onto my car.

becareful with some of these things, because even though they look very similar...some tabs or anchors may be moved a couple of inches. Not sure if thats how Honda does it, but I know Nissans are like that, USDM vs. JDM.

^ Definitely a possibility, however since the TL is only sold here in the states, there shouldn't be the problem of USDM vs. JDM right? Also, I would imagine that the engineers who redesigned the car for '12 would have kept as much as possible to keep costs down right? Or maybe I'm overestimating the laziness of people?

Do the 2012's have a sharp cut off or are they like the 09-11?

Yes you can. I have the 2012 headlights on my 2010 SH-AWD. I had them installed about a couple of weeks after the 2012 was released.

And they fit fine without any modification? That's good to know if that's the case

No mod needed. The only difference in the part number is 1 digit. Acura parts should have told anyone that if they were asked.

What did it cost you may I ask? Did you just get only the main body and re-use the lights them-self?

Man that's expensive, but it's still a nice upgrade if you don't mind spending the cash.

I'd blackhouse for $500 each...

Actually I wouldn't pay what they actually cost, there are always deals here or there and the price can most likely be worked.

To each's own. Money isn't ans issue for me when it comes to what I want for the car. Also, it falls under my warranty for the car. If I have any issues with the part or the labor associated with the install, it's covered.

Not to drop in with a cheap plug but wouldnt it be way cheaper to get the OEM lights modified to match the 2012 style

I considered going that route, but there were two reasons why I considered it as not being cost effective in my case. (1) Time and (2) Time. When I see something I want, I want it right then and there. If you were local to my area or had some type of core exchange process, then we may have been in business.

PM me for details, to paint internals to match '12 its $150.
Internals of the 2012 are the same as 09-11

This is a picture of the main bezel in the 09-11 TL headlight as it comes OEM.

Here is how the set up is colored in 2009-11 headlights

1) Silver
2) Silver
3 Chrome
4) Amber diffuser with chrome reflector behind it
5)Chrome Strip

Here is how the set up is colored in the 2012 headlights

1) Black
2) Black
3 Chrome
4) Amber diffuser with chrome reflector behind it
5)Chrome Strip

Sorry I missed your post. I am up in Northern VA for work probably a week each month. Where did you get the work done, or did you do it yourself? I will probably send off my grille to the guy on here (forgot his name for the moment) who does them. I'd love to see your car sometime!

Also, post up a few more pics or create a thread showing off the car. Looks amazing!

In the 3G TL, the 04-05 headlights were different than the 06's, and the 07-08 headlights were different than 04-06.

And you could easily recoup some of the cost by selling your old headlights.
