Rear Seat Reminder - Sad, But Necessary

I still can't believe anyone would ever forget their child (or pet) in the backseat on a 80-90 degree outside-temperature day and leave them there while they go about their business, sometimes for hours -- and then it's too late and a tragedy happens.

Thankfully, the 2022 Acura MDX comes with a Rear Seat Reminder. Good on Acura to incorporate that. It's on page 200 in the owner's manual. I was wondering why I was seeing the icon/reminder on my instrument cluster (and not knowing what it meant). Talked to Client Relations, which is how I found out about the meaning of the alert and the feature.

Sadly, it happens more often that most people would believe: https://www.consumerreports.org/car-...baby-syndrome/

True. A sobering take away from the CR article you shared is no one can be sure they would never, ever do such a thing.

Thanks for the PSA! This situation unfortunately sets up the premise for the awesome Apple TV+ series "Servant."

It is very VERY easy to underestimate how hot it gets, and how quickly, it gets in a car with the windows shut - or even cracked open a bit.
Every now and then I sit in my car and read my mail or something before getting out of the car - and it's not too long before I'm just sweating like a pig.
And I have tinted windows too.

Everyone who gets a license should be forced to sit in a closed car a few minutes to really hammer this point home.

I was wondering why sometimes I get the notification and sometimes I don't. I thought it was b/c it was a super sensitive system and it sensed something on the backseat (car seat cover for my dogs) but now I know it's b/c the rear door was opened. thank you for this!
