MDX Type S Specs, Release Date and General Discussion
"Acura confirmed that the new MDX Type S is powered by 3.0-liter V6 engine, the same one in the TLX Type S. In the MDX it produces 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, matching the sedan, and Acura says it has a max towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. The MDX Type S comes standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Acura's torque-vectoring Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive system." - CNET.com
This is a missed opportunity IMHO. There's a good chance it will be unbelievably heavy and "only" 3.0 single turbo. This should have had 3.5TT from NSX (minus electro motors to keep the price down). Another issue will be dealer mark up. If the TLX is nearly $70K with these $10-15K mark ups, the MDX Type S will be $75-80K (MSRP + dealer greed). We already know Honda/Acura don't give a damn about dealer price gouging, as seen with Civic Type R and TLX Type S. With all that weight and same 3.0T from TLX-S, will MDX-S be able to get to 60 under 5 seconds? Probably 5.5s or even 6s. Again...a big missed opportunity. Acura continues their mantra started in late 2000s of overpromising and underdelivering.

6G TLX-S
It seems that 2022 MDX buyers don't mind about the curb weight being heavy and the engine output being underpowered, because the SUV is selling like hotcakes even without the high power 355hp turbo-V6.
This further makes Acura to believe that the current MDX configuration is already a winning formula, and thus will put less motivation in entering a horsepower race.

6 seconds would put it about on par with my GL450 that has a twin turbo and about 800 lb heavier than the current '22 MDX Advance SHAWD.
Since the non Type-S does 0-60 in 6.4 sec, I'm guessing the Type S will get you 5.7 to 5.9 sec. It'll be enough to drive ADM much more than the the TLX Type S did.

That's linear estimation but I think the TLX-S was already at diminishing returns due to the weight (the MDX-S will be even more so).

It always seems Acura is in competition with itself and not with the other vehicles in its class. The 4th Gen MDX is an improvement over the 3rd Gen, 3rd Gen MDX is an improvement over the 2nd Gen, the Type-S is an improvement over the Aspec/Adv MDX, etc... The MDX Type-S is a kick ass vehicle ONLY if you compare it to every previous Acura since the Y2K MDX. There is still a wide range of laundry list items we all wish the 22 MDX and MDX Type-S would change/add so Acura would compete better against the competition. The MDX Type-S engine seems like it should output 375-400 hp/tq range for its price range. I would have jumped all over the MDX Type-S if they used the RLX hybrid 3.5L powertrain of 377hp/341tq with +25 mpgs combined.

Burning Brakes
^^^^^Agreed. I find myself slowly drifting away from Acura products, as nothing officially coming down the road appeals to me. It is a shame the smart tech employed in the Acura hybrids has been shelved, except for the NSX. I'm still hopeful though. Not in the immediate need for wheels. So I'll keep a hopeful eye on what Acura is doing. Can't believe I am now reading up on Aviators and XC-90's!

I also looked at the XC90 hybrid 400hp/472tq and hybrid Aviators 494hp/630tq if I wanted to upgrade sooner compared to later. I'm good with my current vehicles until +2028 to see if Acura provides options other than oil burners for the next gen of vehicles. I wish Acura would add the hybrid tech to the Type-S 3.0T engine (420hp/425tq, 25mpg hwy/city/combined).
