Ambient lights Advanced vs A-Spec

I am in love with my new A-spec, black with red interior. Does anyone know if there are more ambient lights in the advanced? The pictures of the advanced I see online have additional lights around the center stack and door that are not on the A-spec.

Standard: "Ambient LED Cabin Lighting"
Technology: "Iconic Drive Ambient LED Cabin Lighting (27 Themes)"
A-Spec: Adds to or replaces Technology Package features...

Advanced and A-Spec are the same... only the Standard will have limited number of color choices.
I think it's married to the Drive Modes...

I picked up the Aspec last week and was also disappointed in the lack of ambient lights. Only have the strip on each door and none along the dash. I watched this youtube video (
) and I'm not sure if that's the concept car, or the Advanced package or if that's in the upcoming Type S model but I definitely don't have the double strip on the front doors, none along center console or the lower dash.

Every review video I've seen shows the ambient lights along the dash and two strips on the doors. Something might be wrong with your car.

The OP also posted he don't get the lights on the center dash or the 2nd strip along the door. Also, there's a youtube review of the Aspec model at night time and it also doesn't have extra ambient lights. Initially I thought something was wrong with my car too like I got a preproduction model, but I think that's just how they are. I will be going back to dealership to check out the tech and advanced models to confirm once they get more stock in.

That's very strange. Maybe the ASPEC doesn't have the "full" ambient lights? Seems like a weird thing to skimp on. I'm personally getting an Advance, but I may be waiting for several months as I only want to pay invoice price.

I just checked the Acura website and in the specs, it claims Tech, ASPEC, and Advanced has the "Iconic Drive Ambient Lights." Only the base trim has the standard ambient lights. Did you try some different light settings? Maybe some of them are more minimalist?

The advance MDX has two extra light strips compared to the other trim levels. In the advance trim there is a strips that runs across the dash and strips that run along the center console. The strip on the console runs underneath the metal trim. I cannot find any real photos of it, but it is showing in Acura’s promotional photos.

Hmm, interesting. Acura doesn't seem to distinguish this on their spec sheet. I guess we'll find out soon enough when more members get their MDX. Ultimately, it's a trivial feature and wouldn't sway me into an Advance just for those extra lights. It's the "other stuff" that is swaying me into the Advance.

Yes, Aspec has light strip only on the door, i purchased mine on past Saturday, and there is no where in the indoor light theme setting a way to turn the underneath dash one on or off, it has been left out completely, the footwells has em lol, i just noticed the other night, still finding new things, my first Acura model. I guess just one of many things justifying $3500 diff between Aspec vs Advance. Personally i like the less ambient, i didnt even notice the missing one.

So we talking 9 ambient lights (2 on each door, 2 on each side (footwell, above footwell), and left side of console?)
versus the 2 on the aspec?

Looking closer at the spec sheets, the 2 lights are actually from the tech package.
The aspec spec list doesn't include any lights.

I see a total of 18 ambient lights in my Advance: 8 on the doors (2 on each of the 4 doors), 4 behind the 4 interior door handles, 2 on the driver's side (footwell and above footwell), 2 on the front passenger's side (footwell and above footwell), and 2 on the sides of the console (not just the one on the left side).

I definitely have more than 2 lights in my TLX A-Spec. Weird that the flagship MDX A-Spec has less.

Duh, all four doors.
So the tech/aspec should have 4 total then.

Maybe Jujhar can confirm if there are ambient lights on the 2 rear passenger doors in his A-Spec?

So, on my Aspec following are the location for leds:
1. All 4 Door Handle Pockets.
2. All 4 Door Upper Trim
3. One Front Driver and One Front Passenger Footwell.

They all change colors according to the iconic drives color selection (i think its 27).

Just watched this video:

See the 15:50 timestamp onwards.
The Acura salesman says that only the Advance has two toned ambient light settings.

weirdly, I don't see the lights turned on by the sides of the center console.

Just realized that by dual tone, I think he means that each of the two ambient light strips on the door are a different color, rather than two colors used all around.
And that's a big "DUH" since there's only one light strip on the door in the first place.

He shows the interior lighting in this video:

although I don't see the lights in the door handles like other users mentioned.

Aspec has multi selector accent light theme.

Door Handle Lights are there but very subtle. Acura was running out of options to differentiate between A spec and Advance they had to reflect somewhere, so HUD, Walk Away Tailgate, Remote start and some interior led lighting.

I just noticed on this press release:
https://acuranews.com/en-US/releases...-mdx-press-kit

That in the 'MDX with Advance Package adds or replaces:"
they list "LED door handle lights"

Is this bogus? Or is it an exterior light?

I haven't seen it on the MDX, but on my 06 RL, the front door exterior handles have little white LED light that illuminates the area behind the handle. I'm guessing it's like that. I wonder if it's on all four doors.

Yes, the Advance MDX does come equipped with the door handle lights.

@Aurelius I have the exact same complaint. I just picked up my 2022 A-Spec MDX and Acura cheaped out on the ambient lighting. What gives?! I've watched numerous YouTube videos and it seems Acura purposely did this, and it's not an issue where they skipped this feature on some cars - by accident or otherwise (although I don't see that happening as these manufacturers have strict quality control). Regardless, I was looking forward to the Iconic Drive feature, and it turns out I got half of what I thought I was receiving. Either way, I placed an order on Amazon for LED Neon Light strips to add some on myself lol I'll post pics once I'm done

The ambient lights are so freaking cool....i'm totally geeked out by them. I test drove a Tech pkg and noticed them along the doors and the footwell lights.

I bought the Advance model and much to my pleasant surprise, there are more ambient strips....one near the glove box and another to the left of the console....I have to go count them, but I don't remember the Tech pkg having the one near the glove box. VERY surprised that it's being mentioned A-Spec cheaped out on that strip too
