'22 Type S Loaner

I just picked up a CPO '21 RDX A-Spec but it had a few scratches the dealer was going to fix after delivery. Dropped it off yesterday and asked if I could get a MDX loaner to compare. They gave me a '22 Type S in Tiger Eye!!

All I can say is WOW! Of course after 30 seconds I had it in Sport + and Sport trans mode and this car hauls! Handles amazing for its size and the transmission (without using paddles) is always where you want it. Sounds incredible as well. All the same nice appointments as the RDX A-Spec but a touch nicer with more room but drives smaller than its size. They are definitely trying to upsell me already! If I had the extra $$ I would be tempted but the RDX fit my budget and needs for now. I feel like the MDX Type S is a great value for its performance and quality.

Here's to dreaming and enjoying my loaner for a few days!

"great value for its performance and quality"
Not so much for the (mediocre) performance.

TYPE S is a dangerous loaner.....I drove my colleague's TYPE S and after an hour or so, I did not want to leave the car. It handles so well that you forget the BMWs and Audis. I will refuse to go for another test drive with my colleague....I won't be able to wait until my CX5 lease is over. I will probably go to the dealer and write a cheque irrational decision haha!

I'm probably an outlier as I have a stage 3 tuned TLX A-Spec FWD but, the TLX Type S that I've driven is largely tempting when it comes to a quick shifting 10AT and Brembo braking. (Acceleration-wise -- largely from a roll -- I'm pretty confident that I could walk a stock Type S)

With respect to the MDX Type S, YES! It's definitely a dangerous loaner. I had it for several days and totally realize that it fills in most of the performance gaps I experience with my MDX Tech. (Though it feels like my MDX Tech gets out the hole a little quicker when in Sport/S mode.)
