Bugatti: Veyron News
VW's secret 400km/h cars:
Exclusive spy pics!
14/02/2003 08:03
At last! After almost a week of speculation and sightings of VW's super Bugatti Veyrons in the Western-Cape, Wheels24 obtained exclusive spy photos of these exciting cars. It also seems that these supercars are being tested in South Africa, and are not here for a photographic shoot.
A Southern Cape family took photos of the three sensational Bugatti Veyrons. The Greeff family, Marianne, Derick and Annette, spotted these cars on the scenic coastal route between Betty's Bay and Gordon's Bay.
The photos also show that there are special stickers on the Veyrons, which read: "High speed test vehicle - Approved by Government." This indicates that the cars are in South Africa for test purposes.
The Veyrons was first spotted earlier this week on the Cape's West Coast and then a day later another Wheels24 reader saw them in the Overberg district on the N2 near Grabouw.
There are no badges on the three test vehicles but it is unmistakably Bugattis Veyrons.
The Bugatti Veyron is the hottest car in Volkswagen's arsenal. It features an 8-litre W16 (2xV8) muscle engine with a power output of 736kW at 6 000 rpm. Torque is a mighty 1250Nm.
The car has a top speed of 406km/h and accelerates from 0-300km/h in less than 14 seconds!

Holy Moly!!! 14 seconds to 186 mph!

Furthermore, the amenities and design look far better to me than the McLaren F1. While I loved the F1, the Bugatti is far more compelling. As far as excess, anything can be defined as excessive. Most people think my car is excessive for my needs, and I own an entry level luxo coupe.

Looks pretty cool, but I'm not too crazy about the front.
Is this supposed to be a sports car, luxury car, or a mix? I can't really tell what it is trying to be.

Hottest car ever made for the street.
wow.

Bugatti's president [fired] in wake of continued Veyron delays
By GREG KABLE
Storm clouds are gathering over the Bugatti EB16.4 Veyron. Word out of Germany is that Bugatti president Karl-Heinz Neumann has received his walking papers from parent company Volkswagen's chairman Bernd Pischetsreider as a consequence of the supercar's launch delay.
Originally due to go into limited production earlier this year, the Veyron now appears unlikely to reach customers until this time next year -- some 12 months behind schedule. Nothing's official just yet, though Volkswagen sources say moves are already afoot to replace Neumann, who has headed Bugatti since plans for the Veyron were first announced in 2000.
German press reports suggest Bentley and Volkswagen Motorsport boss, Franz-Josef Paefgen, may be brought in to steer the new car's final development, although an official announcement is unlikely to be made until the Frankfurt motor show in early September. Problems with the reliability of the Veyron's complex 8.0-litre, W-16 engine and seven-speed gearbox are said to be behind the launch delay.

I am deciding b/t it and the Ferrari Enzo Ferrai, but if the Veyron doesn't come out soon I am going to have to settle for the Italian.
