Will these tires fit? (P245/45/17) on Type S
Hello everyone out there in Acurazine World!!
If you have read my previous thread, you know that I recently installed a Progress 24mm RSB on my new 2008 Acura TL Type S. That RSB made such a HUGE difference, now I want to chuck the junky-no-grip-All-Season Michelins !
I live in a warm climate with hardly any rain (Vegas) and I am looking for some HIGH Performance SUMMER tires to run on.
I am thinking Kuhmos, BF Goodrich, or Yokos.......any comments??
My question is this.........will a P245/45 or 40/17 fit on my stock Type S wheels? The stock Michelins are P235/45/17.
I want to run a little wider tire (P245) to get even more grip.
Thanks!!!!!!!

Come on people!! Nobody out there knows?? Well, I guess I will have to just review some other threads/posts to find out. I am just concerned about "rubbing" in the front on turns. However, it looks like some Aziners are running P245's & P255's with no problems.......but I just thought I'd ask for some feedback on +1 or +2 tire sizing.

245/40 I think. Double check here:

And go with the GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3.

I have a similar question. I have a aftermarket ruff racing 8.5 inch will. I was wondering how wide of a tire I could run on the front and rear of this car without having a problem.

245/40 is the most comfortable ride period, belongs on this car, I don't care who will say they will give uneven tire wear, so on and so forth, hope the above guys answered your questions to ur satisfaction
ps. looks like you've been stung by the modbug

I agree with stillhere.
I ran 245/40/17 on stock 8" wheels on my '05, and they were fine with wear, ride, etc. Just bad on snow, which you won't need to deal with. I ran Michelin Pilot A/S's, and they were great.
The 245/45 is a taller tire than the stock tire, whereas a 245/40 is slightly smaller in diameter, while having about the same width.
Once my stockers wear out, it will be my final mod for a long time.

OK, I lied
After JUST saying that I wasn't going add any mods except for tire size change, I read the OP's thread on the change to the Progress 24mm RSB. I couldn't resist.
I either need some willpower, or I need to quit reading this forum

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all ur help. Yeah, the modbug has bitten me pretty good, but I LEASED the TL Type S.......so I can't go crazy.
I put in a K&N filter, that seemed to help a little, too. The Progress RSB is a MUST. WOW. It totally changed the handling of the Type S........this is how it should be from Acura.
My A-Spec Body kit should be at the dealer in a few days, ordered it from John Eagle Acura for $775 shipped! I am NOT going to do any suspension/spring work (too much $$$$ for a LEASED car).
Next mod........TIRES. I am looking at some SUMMER tires in the 245/40/17 size based on all your help.......thanks!! Goodyears??? Really??? I was looking at Kuhmo, Yokos, BFG's, and Bridgestones..........I am not a big fan of Goodyear...........but these Michelins are JUNK!!!
