well, people with 18x7.5 with 42 offset (and 225/40 tires) said they rubbed the bumper tab when lowered. trimming it usually does the trick. your wheel would be positioned about 2mm farther out in terms of the wheels. tires (size and design) are another story that can make the situation worse. so what size of tire and amount of lowering are you going with? might be ok at stock height.

watch your offset
I'm not expert on this ...
but +40 offset with 18x7.5 ... you're most likely gonna rub if you're lowered. Stock height ... maybe you'll get away with it with 225/40/18 tires. 235/40 -- no way.
You might have luck with 'rolling the fenders' (aka cutting the black bumper tabs in the wheel well) ... but that's not something I would do without help (I'm kinda scared). All I know is 235/40/18 on 18x7.5 rims with a +45 offset (along with a Comptech drop) -- no problems (knock on wood).
Hope that helps. What rims were you looking at, anyways?

I was looking at the Detata Verdicts'
And I am not going to lower the car anytime soon, so you guys think it would be OK with Stock Springs
