Wide Wheel Options

whats up guys ive been lookin around the forum and havent really came across what im lookin for

i just purchased the tein flex z coils, and my next things is new wheels and tires. im lookin for that wide look but not cambered or anything as this is my daily driver in northern nj.
if anyone can recommend any wheels brands or models would be great. also the big thing is the specs. what specs am i lookin for, i def wanna get 18s and when it comes to width and offset im lost. i dont need no crazy wide wheels with streched tires, i wanna get something thats gonna look really nice but able to drive everyday no problem like rubbing or eating my tires. so now onto the tires i see people putting all types of different sizes, some have a lot of tire but then some are almost riding rim, i need a happy medium so i can drive around nj cause we got some potholes and bumpy roads but nothing crazy.

lastly i have a nighthawk black pearl acura tl type s 08, blacked out grill and emblems, but idk what color rims. i was gonna go all black but now my friend has me lookin at the hyper silver, im leaning towards that bbs/niche type rim with the spokes, but also like the xxr 530 concave type. i just need some help!!

You sound like me, a bit. I think my specs will work perfect for you, but go wider with the tire or wheel and you'll have to do more work.

18 x 9.5 +40 • 265/35/18 • dropped on BC Racing NA coil-overs • camber kit in the rear, -1.5° front / -2° rear • slight roll in the rear.

OK, so I guess I didn't see the last bit. Because you have Brembo's, your wheel/tire choices are a bit weird. I'll let the Type-S XXR guru's chime in here.

I too have the NBP! I do not have the BBK - so offset/wheel choice is not a huge concern. Wheel choice and fitment to clear the BBK will all depend on the wheel design - I am running 18x10 - no camber kits at and sitting like -1 in front and -3 in the rear - i think the bronze/gold wheel colors look best - but the NBP can handle just about any color combo - the pearl sometimes can have an iridescence to it mostly from the blue flake - so a wide range of color can be used....the first pic was my old set up on 530's, ran more conservative though at 18x8.75 +35 and the second pic is my current set up - 18x10 +25 Varrstoen MK2,

Man what a difference car looks great

Weezy2390 With the Brembos wheel choice are slim. I tried like 10 wheels wheels at
the wheel shop that did not clear brembos. Finally ended up using 5mm for one set of wheels. Now I got Miro wheels
that require 15mm spacer. Great thing about the base TL is basically any wheel clears the brakes.
if you like the XXR 530 go with 18x8.75 +20 with 225 tires

+20 is nice and flush. 225 tire is just enough coverage but be careful with curbs. I have corrected my rear camber to -1. Rear fenders have a slight roll.

so im wondering will the 18x8.75 +20 work with the 225 tires and not need fender roll? also seems like fender roll isn't that expensive, were would I go to get a professional to do it. would it be worth it for peace and mind to get all my fenders rolled?

people were sayin to use the 215 tire but I think that's way to skinny for these nj/nyc roads. also they said they need to be stretched which I don't understand. I just wanna get the right tires for the rims and put them on no problems. this is my daily driver so im tryin to make the drivability as much as stock as I can.

any input is appreciated, I def like the way travs car is, but I will be getting the 527 rims. how low are you? im tryin to just eliminate wheel gap or close to it nothing crazy. any recommendations on lowering, like 1.8in or so ? is that low enough u think for these wheels.

I will be lowering it on stock wheels (type s wheels) for now until I get the new rims. would u recommend to lower it good with the stocks and then raise it a little when I get the new rims??

You are just a bit too far out with those specs, so you'll NEED a roll for sure, but with that (and the right drop) you should be good. You're literally right on the line.

You can rent a fender roller usually, I did mine over a weekend, it's not hard, you just have to take your time.

yean I got a guy who charges 65$ per fender and im not good with that stuff I rather have a professional do it. so if I lower on tein flex z with the xxr 527 18x8.75 + 20 with the 225 tires and I fender roll will I be good? also will I need to roll all my fenders? or just the back? would u recommend a different tire size? im tryin to not ruin the wheels or anything I just wanna be able to drive the car no problems? would I just get an alignment after the install or would I def need a camber kit? would the camber kit just be on the back or front as well?

im tryin to do this the right way first then to regret it in the end with all problems

I would listen to Trav and Boose here, they are much more experts with your fitment than I am. What I'm doing is putting my specs into a calculator and it's spitting out the differences. You're very close, I don't think you'll need anything except a roll on the front edge in the rear, and to cut the tab off in the front (it's a section of metal where the fender meets the front bumper that serves no purpose except to cut your tire up if you have good fitment). Anyway, you are so close that no one will probably be able to tell you exactly what you need, you just have to try it and see. I think you'll be fine with minimal work.

The thing to remember is that you're trying to fit a +20 wheel, so there WILL be some work.

FWIW, I didn't NEED a camber kit, I wanted one in just the rear to correct the -2.5° that I had via the drop.

It should be fine.

Manufacturers give close to 0 camber in the front to make cars understeer for safety reasons, and to make them easy to turn. -1.5° is just what the doctor ordered there, and should give you almost no increased tire wear.

Rear camber is set at -1° to -1.5° from the factory, giving the car rear stability. However, up to -2° or a little more should cause you no issues at all, and make the car even more stable.

I would stay around -1.5° in the front and around -2° in the rear.

Remember, it's TOE that wears tires, so once you drop the car, make sure to get a good alignment ASAP. I wouldn't expect you to notice dramatic increased tire wear from camber until you get past -2.5°.

Yes, you should be good, it depends on the drop amount, roll amount, and exact tire specs (all 225's are not created equal).

The front section over the wheels is called the fender. You can roll this, but there is a metal piece on the inside that will need to be cut off with a Dremel or the like.

The rear section over the wheels is called the quarter panel. You will need to roll the front edge of this. Just look underneath it, you can see how the top and rear edge are already rolled from the factory, you just need to do that to the front edge.

Rear quarter edge that will need to be rolled.

You are going to need to show him what it is, and ask him to cut it off. I'll see if I can get a pic tonight that shows it clearly.

You don't need them pulled. It's better to just roll and do a little more negative camber.

You should be fine without a camber kit. I only got a kit for the rear to take negative camber out. Spec is -1.5° in the rear, and I was running like -2.6° after the drop. I got the kit to take it back to -1.5°. The front I like at -1.5°, so no kit needed.

No - only if the front fenders are rolled flat - mine are rolled flat and slightly pulled so the inner fender liners had to go - better than than try to leave them have them grabbed by the tires and pulled out while driving lol

To the OP - i am running -3 camber in the rear, it's not the camber that eats the tires, that is mostly due to the tow angle - i have had this current set up (same tires) for 17 months and almost no irregular tire wear - i do consistent alignments to keep the toe in check, and get rotated and balanced once a quarter...18x10 +25 in the rear, and i did a more aggressive roll/slight pull and didn't really need to - could've done fine with just the roll. I am not running any camber kits
-here is the tire shredding Visual is talking about - there is a piece of the metal bracket that extends out that cuts into the tires, you just need to grind that down and it will be fine

Here is a somewhat decent pic of where to look for the metal tab - again, right where the metal bracket is where you screw from the fender into the bumper - easy to spot in relation to the tire when you get down there

This is a close up of the part in front that gives me issues (but I'm not as close as most, nor as low). It's right where the fender meets the front bumper cover. You can see where the tire has been rubbing it. I plan to roll, bend, or cut this before I get my 275's.

VOSSEN wheels all the way!!! They are custom made and I have 20" rims that fit perfectly. I didn't even have to worry about all the measurements and offsets. They made them to fit perfectly. So easy and so worth it.

Looks good - yes - neo-chrome on the chromium black will go nicely together.
make sure the hub rings are 73.1mm to 64.1mm
if you are taking the tires off of your current set, then you can resuse the tpms sensors from those wheels - otherwise yeah, you will need new ones.

i think on the 3g 18/19's work better - better to get fitment where want it, 20's go better on the 4g - the 4g has a bigger body and can suit the larger wheels better -
