Isn't the factory size 245/45/17? just curious?

Also, Goodyear RSA tires any good?

Factory size is 235/45-17

And Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires are extremely crappy. I call them Crap-SA... Those tirs came on my other car... Horrible wet traction, below average dry traction...

Thanks,

BTW, is it still recommended to go 255/40/17? I would think that the road noise would be greater and the ride would be more harsh...

Who "recommended" them? There has been a long time thread suggesting that it is possible to use 255's on the stock wheel. However, just about every tire mfr. recommends against it. The stock wheel is simply not wide enough to be safely used, in their professional opinion(s). Yes, it is possible. Some readers have tried them with no problems (yet). Most tire dealers will not install them for safety reasons. You can safely use 245/40/17, which are nearly as wide as the 255's, or 255/45/17's. Again, the primary benefit is looks.
I believe the title to the thread is "why you should use 255/40/17's on your stock wheels". The author is "inaccurate". It is an extremely informative thread with lots of information...both pro and con. Might do a search if you are interested.

The recommended tires are either 235 or 245. 255 is not recommended by any tire manufacturer for an 8 inch rim as far as I know.

He must be referring to Innaccurate's thread advising why one should have 255/40/17 on OEM wheels.
