Where to purchase cheap/good tires - need 245/40/ZR18

Where do you guys recommend to go for replacement tires - and what brand specific model do you guys recommend for 18in ASPEC wheels - I'd likely need just a pair down the line. Just trying to do some homework...

tire size is 245-40-zr18. Current set up on ASPEC wheels includes Bridgestone Potenza RE040 RFT run flats which go for about 350 per tire which is a lot!

I've been trying to get rid of my two Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires forever... They are 245/40-18. I took them off the front of my G when I replaced the rears with RE960AS, so I could match the fronts... I think when I measured them, they have like 7/32" or 8/32" or something like that of tread left... If you pay for shipping, I can send them to you for free.... I sent someone else my a pair of RE960 from my TL when I got the 19" RDX wheels... When I UPS those two tires across the country, it ended up costing $117. They are dismounted, sitting on a shelf in my garage.

First recommendation is stay away from the RFT. They are designed to be used only on a vehicle that has the suspension modified for their use and are also quite heavy, weighing in @ 31 lbs, have only a 140 tread wear, one of the lowest in the industry and are classified as a summer tire.

Second, you need to make a determination as to a summer only tire, or an all season design and price considerations, if any. Once that decision is made, come on back for some recommended brands.

I have to sets of wheels - the stock 17" that i plan to use during the majority of the year especially in the snow and the ASPEC wheels with RFT tires that I'll likely use from may - august.

I do want tires that will last awhile and didnt really have a choice on the Bridgestone RE040s as they came with the wheels when I bought them. What do you guys recommend?

Do you want the "sticky" summer tires that will afford low mileage, or an all season that will ensure longer tread life?

I wouldn't recommend Yokohama S-Drive Summer tires. I had them installed on my stock 17's and they lasted less than 15k miles. I rotated every 2nd oil change so about every 6k miles. Am really diligent with alignment checks and balancing also but these tires were too soft to last over 15k. They do handle wonderfully in dry and rain and stopping is great. Gas mileage also horrible around 20mpg.

www.tirerack.com I priced some cheapos of that exact same size and they were $340 shipped. I'm sure the treadwear was low and I had honestly never heard of the name brand.
