Where to buy Aspec rims?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a set of aspec 18" chrome finish rims for my 07 TL type S. As I understand, they have to be an 8" width to fit over the Brembos up front. An Acura of Peoria always has the set with TPMS sensors listed on ebay for $1683, but I'm wondering if anyone else has found a new set cheaper elsewhere. I don't need the TPMS sensors. I do not want to trade my oem rims or purchase used ones. Only want new.

Here's the rim:

You can find used A-Specs in the black market all day. Even if you get them refinished, it will still be cheaper than spending almost $1700 on them.

I did consider this, but this could end up costing more in the end. I've seen guys on here selling them for $800 for the set (and that's with curb rash). Then there's shipping costs (around $100). As for refinishing them, I live in the same city as one of the rimdoctor.com shops. They get $125 per wheel to restore. That's $1400 total. So it's a couple hundred bucks less. While it's a savings, there is still some risk. If the rim I buy is bent or out of round, then I'd have to buy another one. No guarantees on black market. That's why I want to go new.

I bought mine off the black market. Turned out, 3 of 4 were bent. For $400, had all 4 of them straightened out and powdercoated, may as well be new a specs. Seller was unaware of the bends, but split the cost with me. And to be honest, you can't beat a powdercoat finish, nice and durable. Hell, I've bought nearly all my mods from the black market, and had all good experiences

I just hate to see you spend so much money for wheels that are NOT worth that kind of money. There are a lot more aftermarket wheels you can buy for less (18'' & 19'') that will have better fitment and don't require spacers to push the wheels out for a better look.

Ultimately it's your money and car, but a new set of Gunmetal 8.5's aren't worth that much IMO.

Agreed. Even at $1,000, you start to look to see what else may be available.

imo A-spec wheels look ok, but not worth $1700. and chrome wheels are outdated.

If I were to buy the aspec 18" x 8" rims, why would I need spacers? It's supposed to be a direct fit. I like the style of the chrome aspecs and the fact that they are made in Japan. I have looked into aftermarket rims for other vehicles I've had in the past. A lot of the ones that cost less are made in China. Definitely not looking to buy rims from China.

Spacers are only "required" if you are going for a better fitment. After a drop, any stock Acura rims will look a little sunken in due to the weak offset. 15mm front and 20mm rear is pretty much the standard size most people use.

Oh ok. So I should be good as my tl isn't dropped and I don't plan on it. So they should look natural on my car right?

Yeah the aspec rim style has been around since 04, but I don't think they're necessarily dated. Bell bottoms are dated. Big hair is dated. The aspec chrome look is unique and to me, visually more appealing than stock and other aftermarket rims.

It's your car! Do what you think is best

I'm a bit biased since I have A-Specs but I think they are clean and classy wheels. Plus if you decide that you don't like the chrome finish, you can have it sandblasted off and the wheels redone in a different color

I just ordered 4 of these last week. Ordered on Thursday and they arrived at my house last night. They look great. The "grey" color is gunmetal. They came with centercaps and are ready to mount. I will post pics once I get them installed.

Total our the door was around $750. They have an ebay store as well. That's where I found them.

Thanks for the input. Got lots of suggestions on where to get the gunmetal wheels, but I really wanted the chrome. I finally found a set of new (not reconditioned) a-spec chrome rims for $799 + $125 shipping. Got them from a place called midwest wheel and tire. They arrive tomorrow.
