???Wheel Offset???

I have a 04 6 spd manual TL. I read somewhere that the offset was 45. I also saw that some people have wheels with a 35 offset.

What i want to know is what offset is needed to clear the calipers on the 6 spd man and what does all the diff numbers mean.

P.S. I already ordered a wheel with a 42 offset. The guy at the shop says it will work fine on my car.

From what I know, when I was doing research to order my rims... You will be able to fit with a +42 offset.

There is no answer to the question. Offset alone will not tell you if wheels will fit over the brembos correctly. You may learn the hard way when your new wheels don't fit. Good luck.

The wheels i ordered will be OK. They had a set of the same wheel in black that we put on the the car to make sure they would work.

I guess the reason i was confused abou the "offset" thing is because some wheels with a 40 offset will work fine and some wheels with a 42 offset wont work or will need a spacer. So i guess the answer to my question is.. It depends on the wheel manufacturer and how they designed the wheel if it will have the required space to clear the 6 speed TL's calipers.

So now we know..

You are right. Offset is only one part of the question. To know if a particular wheel will clear the Brembos it depends on the styling of the spoke which determines the space that you will have.
