Wheel locks

I'm will be purchasing some new wheels for my car, but I am concerned because I will not be able to park the car in my garage (I already have 2 other vehicles that are parked there) -- does having wheel locks really a good deterrent to thieves, or are they able to get around those nowadays? Will I be able to sleep at night because I got wheel locks, or maybe I should just leave my wheels stock?

Any help is appreciated, thanks

They can get around it, they make special tools to remove any kind of lug nuts, although it may slow them down, or even piss off someone that doesnt have the right tool.

I had a roommate who used to steal wheels when he was younger (he's older and wiser now). I asked him about wheel locks when I got my TL, and he said that if he wanted to steal wheels with a wheel lock, he would go up to the car and take a wax mold of the lock. Then he would take the wax mold home and machine a tool to fit and remove the lock based on the mold. He said it usually didn't take him longer than a few hours. So as long as what he could get for the wheels offset the time and cost of making the tool (as was the case 100% of the time), then wheel locks were essentially worthless as a theft deterrant. I guess the best thing to do would be to install a good alarm with a proximity or vibration sensor?
