What are top hats bushing????

What are exactly the top hats bushing? i was looking online and think they are refering to the RUBBER, FR. SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING? let me guys know if iam wrong thank you..iam buying new shocks and someone recommended those from a TL S-type..Read some reviews and i liked what they said .....PLEASE HELP

Item #18 (replaces Item #6) in this drawing. Thats the Fronts. Check if the rears are different.

They're defintetly worth replacing if your car has some years/miles on it.

When I replaced the front shocks on our '02 (~9-years/90,000 miles), those bushings were flat as pancakes - especially compared to new.

With the combination of new shocks and new bushings the car felt a whole lot better, both in ride and through the steering wheel. No more slop. Probably mostly the shocks, but I'd do the same again for the extra few $$. FWIW, I used 3G TL-S bushings on the 2G.
