What rims should i get?

Hey all, I have a 2002 TL-S and I am having some serious issues deciding on a set of rims. I'm not sure if i should get 19s or 18s and if i get 19s will they rub? (consider that i have not touched the suspension) I was looking at 18 inch Antera Type 309s but a 19 inch Axis Hagen set looked kinda nice. I would probably get chrome. If you guys have any recommendations, feel free to let me know, and do you think I will have issues with 19s cause I dont wanna have to buy new tires every week. Finally, what do you recommend as tires go? I know michelin and pirelli are quality brands but I was wonderin what else is good out there. Thanks guys.

This is an aged old issue... you said you haven't "touched" the suspension... do you plan on it? I have 19s (and I love them), but when I first got'em... the car looked nasty... I have 235/35/19 tires... which gave a real big gap between the top of the tire and the fender (front, back wasn't that bad... but still,). It didn't look good at all... I finally got it lowered about 3 weeks later...

As for deciding between 18s or 19s... it really depends on the road condition in your area, and your driving habits too. There a lot of "pros" and "cons" to gettin' 19s... but I don't regret it at all... I think if you look for it... there's a "tread" in this forum right now... titled "...Anyone here regret getting 19s?" That might help. I've seen 18s that looked great!!! In fact... I thought they were 19s from far away... People have looked at mine... and from a distance... thought they were only 18s .

One real important thing you must look into... is: offset. That makes all the difference in the world.... (my wheels' are at 51mm).

I think it's "Super Street" magazine this month has a wheels buying guide... to different brands with specs: sizes, offsets, color, bolt patterns... and for most wheels... prices.

If you drive any amount in NY, don't get 19s. You'll be in the shop repairing them more than driving them. N. Jersey and NYC potholes are legendary.
