Need more Info. You dropped at all? 17" times what width? 7"?
What size tires? 205, 215?
The stock TL-S rims are 17 x 6.5 with I believe a +52 offset. The offset brings the tire in more (tuck) in relation to the fender. The higher the offset, the more it tucks in the rim/tire. I have 18x7.5 Konig's with 225/40's and +45 offset. I had a little rub after I installed my H&R sport springs. With 17" and a skinnier tire, should be no problems. Hope it helps. BB

With no drop, you should have no problems. Width sizes are usually in 1/2" increments. Like 17x6.5, 17x7.0, 17x 8.0 etc. If you are getting 17x8 this means the width of the rim (depth) is 8". This will cause the tire to stick out more beyond your fender. To offset this (no pun intended), the offset # compensates for this on your vehicle. the higher the offset #, the more it brings the rim in to the wheel well to compensate. The tires play a big role in this also by their size. The wider the tire, the same concerns. Like stated tho, without any drop, you should be fine.

HEY THANKS AGAIN FOR HELPING ME. ALSO I WAS WONDERING ABOUT HOW YOUR RIMS ARE DOING. I AM ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT THE RIMS WHEN I GET THEM TO COLLAPSE INWARD LIKE A PRINGLES CHIP. OR I WAS WORRIED ABOUT ANY OTHER DAMNAGE. DO YOU THINK THAT THIS KONIG RIM IS AS STRONG AS THE FACTORY RIMS. THANKS AGAIN.

Konigs are not the best rims for quality. They are a cast rim, not forged. If you want a stronger rim, you'll have to pay more. Not that it isn't worth it. It depends on how you plan to drive your car, the road conditions in your area, etc. Just go to your search function and type in wheels. You'll see alot of sites for wheels. Research what you feel you will need. BBS, Alstadts, HRE's, etc. are some of your higher end products. The Konig's meet my needs right now. My road conditions where I drive are not bad at all. Would I like some 3 piece forged rims? Sure. Just don't have the cash for it at this point. If you are a moderate driver, and have fairly decent roads. the Konigs will work. BB

I talked to the parts guy at my dealership today and he said that a +48 offset would be too much and not clear the inside of the well.

They have a 2002 WDP TL-S in the showroom that has 235/40/18's but he wasn't exactly sure the width of the wheels or the offset. It also has the Comptech springs and he said that they have done a couple with the 235/40/18's with no problems.

I really like these wheels and want to put Kumho's on them. Does anyone know if they will work?

And $$$$

Who was the clown that told you +48 was too much? Dude was a space cadet. If you are going with 225's or bigger, and possible drop, you might need 48+ or higher. If you don't drop, a +42 - +45 should work. Dealer guy was dense.

....correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the width of the wheel matter too when it comes to the offset? I mean... if a wheel is only 7" wide, then... can't you go a little lower in offset, than if you have a 8" wide wheel?

Yes it does. But you also have to factor in tire size and drop. I have 18X7.5 with 225/40/18's, drop with H&R sport springs. I had rubbing. The first thing the spring installer at the Discount Tire store said was, "For the TL-S (TL) FWD you need a +48 or higher offset." This was before he even mounted my tires and rims on the car. Dude knew what he was talkin bout. Like I said. If you don't plan on dropping, a +42 - +45 should work fine. If you think you might just drop in the future, and don't want to shave or roll. I would suggest you look for a +48 or higher. Just my 2¢ of experience.

Here are the stats the setup in my 2002 TLS:

1.Rim size: (19" X 8" Axis SE7EN's)
2.Offset: (+40, but +45 is available and probably better)
3.Brand of tire: (Falken ZE-502 cheap, but very impressive)
4.Tire size: (235/35/19)
5.Drop amount (none yet - Comptechs on the way, but tested with two fat b@st@rds in the back seat, a full tank of gas, and a loaded trunk - tuckin')
6.Do they rub. (had to cut a VERY small part of the plastic on the rear part of the rear inner fender well, now there is absolutely no rubbing, +45 may prevent it completely without cutting)
7.Weight: (28 lbs.)

A word of advice - 19's are sweeeeeeeeet, 18's are for wimps.

You're telling me that you've got 19 x 8 with +40 offset and they tuck?? A picture is worth a thousand words!

I'll try to round up a few fat b@st@rds and take a digipic today, H&R OESports are 3 weeks backordered, may have to go with Comptechs, but didn't want to go that low.

When you say "soft soft soft" you are referring to the alloy, right? Obviously soft would be prone to damage, especially in New England. Does anyone know if these are cast or forged?

HRE Wheels

I'm pretty sure they're forged wheels... especially at what they're charging... every wheel is made to order (supposively). Check'em out on their website www.hrewheels.com

I actually found these on this site and I think the manufacturer is a company called Manaray. They are the Vector V5 model and they cost about $250 each. I don't think they are HRE's. Please correct me if I am wrong. I will not be purchasing them right away since we are headed into winter here in the Northeast. Damn, it actually snowed a little bit on the way into work on Monday morning. TOO EARLY FOR SNOW!!!!!

HRE Wheels start in the $500 - $600 EACH!!! Like I said... they are made to order... and custom fitted to your car. That's why they cost so much... It's like having a suit custom fitted to your body... directly from Giorgio Armani himself.... perfect fit. The problem is.... there's no why of getting any "deals" cause very little stores will carry HRE wheels around that'll fit your car. The Manaray VR5 wheels has that multi-piece look, but the rivets are fake... (I think).
