Vibration!!!

Hey guys i have 07 TL and i just got new tires installed onto the car. When i hit 50th or 60th the front passenger tire i can feel vibration. I toke my car to the garage before i got the new tires installed and they said it was my old tires. Now they are new but i still feel the vibration.

Does it do it only at 50-60? If you go slower or faster than 50-60 is the vibration still there? If not you need to get front tire balanced again.

My Acura dealer has a regular Hunter machine and recomended that I have the assemblies done on the Hunter GSP, which I did, and the difference was like night and day.

Maybe this will help:
http://www.gsp9700.com/pub/technical/4869T.pdf

Also, don't forget that you can have the wheels balanced by using an adapter that bolts to the particular lug pattern on the TL 5 X 114.3, rather than using a cone in the center bore. This is what I used. This was the only unit that balanced the wheel/tire and I experienced no vibrations. That was 1 1/2 yr. ago and it is still fine. Before I would encounter a slight vibration in the 68/72 mph range, quite annoying.

Thanks for this link as well. I am lucky as patty's pig. I have a tire dealer in my little rural town that has the GSP with LFM, which is literally like 2 minutes away from my house. I'm going to double check, but next time I need the balancing done, I'm going to them. I think your right, the GSP and LFM make all the difference.

Thanks again!!

hey turbo I hope you can help me with something; had an all-wheel alignment done only 6 months ago at a place that uses the regular Hunter machine for balancing so I thought they must use pretty good alignment equipment if they use Hunter for balancing. Alignment was good for awhile but the car is beginning to pull to the right again when I let go of the wheel on straight a ways!

You know as I do this again means another alignment is going to be needed. I'm a little bit pissed because it hasn't been that long since the last one.

Anyway, I don't want to take it back to that place I had it done the last time and I don't want to take it to Acura who is going to charge an arm and a leg.

What I wanted to know is, is there a different in the alignment machines/equipment where one is better than the other like the Hunter machines are for balancing? If so I want to try and find a place that will use the best alignment equipment so I can stop flushing money down the toilet on alignments for this car. $80 bucks a pop starts adding up quick.

Do you have the before and after alignments specs. The alignment doesn't move in and out, so once it's set, it remains that way until something is worn, or a crater is struck, and even than a wheel can be bent but the alignment will remain. Naturally check inflation pressure and also the tread to see if any uneven wear or feathering, brakes can also cause a slight pull, but with the FWD it's not as common as with RWD. I've had brakes on a FWD vehicle with a caliper locked up and the car didn't pull. Switch the front tires side to side, and if directional, front to rear. Normally a pull is indicative of a camber problem as the right wheel is turning faster than the left because of the tilt and smaller circumference, therefore the pull.

if they're aftermarket wheels you may need hub rings to center your wheels onto your hub.

First off, the closest bridgestone/firestone dealership to where I live is 45 minutes away, and according to the website that turbo gave me, they do not even have a hunter road force balancer let alone the LFM capability!

Just bare in mind, I had the steering gear box replace at around 10k miles do to a chronic power steering fluid leak which Acura finally, after about 4 visits finally located as being in the gear box thus replacing it. According toe American Tire and Auto Care, where I had the all wheel alignment done at about 14k miles, this most likely lead to the mis-alignment and uneven tire wear on my front tires at the time. Here is the specs from the alignment done at 14k miles.

Before Measurements
Left Front Right Front
- 0.6 - 0.4
Chamber Chamber
2.4 2.3
Caster Caster
0.28 0.77
Toe Toe
1.04
Total Toe
-0.24
Steer Ahead

Left Rear Right Rear
-1.1 - 0.7
Chamber Chamber
- 0.08 0.06
Toe Toe
- 0.02
Total Toe
- 0.07
Thrust Angle

Current Measurements

Left Front Right Front
- 0.6 - 0.3
Chamber Chamber
2.4 2.3
Caster Caster
0.03 0.02
Toe Toe
0.04
Total Toe
0.00
Steer Ahead

Left Rear Right Rear
-1.1 - 0.7
Chamber Chamber
0.05 - 0.02
Toe Toe
0.03
Total Toe
0.04
Thrust Angle

So those are the specs from my alignment sheet that was done at 14k. I think some of the problem is, that 4-5k miles I drove around with the mis-alignment caused uneven tire wear in those front tires. I now have 19k on the car and those tires still have that uneven wear and are at 3/32nds on the rear of the car, while the rear tires that are now on the front since 14k ahve 6/32nds left on them. The fronts are at 34 PSI cold and 38-39PSI hot, while the rear's are at 33 PSI cold and 37-38 PSI hot! So that is the story.

I mean, some of the pulling could be because of the uneven wear the rear tires have but I mean I wouldn't expect that since, the tires that didn't have the uneven wear are on the front now.

Ok im frustrated. Got my new wheels on and get vibration from the front at about 60-75. Took it to a hunter GSP and get it rebalanced and doubled checked on my alignment. Got hub rings for them. Still vibrations.

My next course of action is to go to a hunter gsp w/ lfm. Did any of you still have problems and the LFM fix it?

The title reminds me of Good Vibrations by Marky Mark.

Anyway, maybe Hunter with LFM will fix it.
