Utter n00b questions - Tire Pressure

Ok. I know you're supposed to put air in tires and check pressure when cold. How cold!

MID says 35 all around mid-day (75Degrees out here) and the car has been sitting for a while, so its cold.

In the morning, the MID will read 32psi. I understand why, but when exactly is the best to check the reading?

ibpeoplesayuseatiregauge (I'm getting one today lol).

why would you need a tire guage if you have TPMS at your fingertips?

colder air contracts, so tire pressure will decrease when its chilly out but will increase as temperature warms up.

by definition, checking your tire COLD means that it hasnt been driven.

Don't know how accurate it is, plus easier than just going back and forth to look at the TPMS

Justn - so then measure tire pressure as cold as possible, then fill up to 35psi then?

I feel dumb

^well no.
since, it heats up during the day and where you do most of your driving, the pressure will increase!

so, I wouldnt worry about the low temps/low pressure in the mornings.
as by the time you reach your destination, your tire should be well heated and in the correct pressure range.

if not in the correct pressure range then I would add air.

There's really no hard and fast rule about time of day/temp to check tire pressure. The main issue is to check them before driving or within only 1-2 miles after starting driving. If the car has been driven, then it's best to wait 3 hours or so before checking pressure.

This.

I usually check mine on the weekends before I drive the car.

the correct way to check your tire pressure is BEFORE you drive the car, 32 psi for base TL and 35 psi for Type S.

Best time to check/air your tires up is in the mornings before the car has been driven.

I don't know what the base is but the Type S is 35 in front and 32 in the rear.
