Type S springs question

Will 08 type s springs fit directly on 04 base model factory struts?

If so how much of a drop is it?

the springs were stiffened by like 15-20% from acura.
Acura did not make them shorter.

same height but stiffer.
and they drop right in around the shocks.

furthermore; if you buy the type-s suspension, it will be a plug and play....(dont mess with just the springs alone, buy the springs and shocks already assembled.)

It should sit a little lower if you have an automatic car and install the type-s springs for a manual car. Because the manual springs are designed to support a slightly lighter front end.

You can check vehicle weight differences here. And the difference between a type-S auto and manual The last thing you want to do is install the type-S springs for an automatic if you have an automatic too, or even worse, if you have a manual car and install the tpye-S springs for an automatic. Because that would raise your car.. Its all About "Weight" So you may think 50 pounds is not much, but what happens when you put 50 pounds of groceries in your trunk? I'd say it drops a 1/4" or maybe 1/2".. Although the front is stiffer.. You get the point. Imagine placing 50 pound on the front..

Example:
An 05 Automatic TL weighs 3570 GVW. at 61/39% = 2177 lbs on the front.
An 08 Manual TypeS weighs 3559 GVW at 60/40% = 2135 lbs on the front
The Type-S is 42 pounds lighter. This might be 1/4" drop.. maybe..
That may not sound like much, but if you make a mistake and buy the Type-S automatic springs, these springs are designed to support 3674 pounds at 61/39% = 2241 lbs. So the difference from an 05 automatic to an 08 typeS automatic is 64 pounds in the wrong direction! This will raise your car if you put these on Any other TL. Imagine being 1/2" higher than OEM stock. yuk! haha I will take the 42 pound drop instead.. thank you very much..

i just have 1 question... why does the 08 TL have 2 differennt front spring assemblies and they cost differently. And why does the 2008 TypeS manual have 2 different rear springs..? weird.

What shock spring assbly can i put in 2004 tl manual??

I have a 2004 tl manual 6sp and can't find oem shock assemblies (discontinued). Will 2007 or 2008 aspect oem assemblies fit my 2004? Some say the FCS assemblies are decent and handle similar to oem.

thanks much, the problem is i can't even find 2008 oem assemblies " discontinued". Don't want to mess with spring compression and getting all the little extra parts. Thanks again though as I might have more luck finding 2008 tlba spec

my FCS struts bit the dust after a couple years and not even 30k miles on them. Front driver side is knocking and clunking.

Did those FCS change the ride height?

Little late to this. But can confirm, used type s shocks on an 06 base auto a few years back. Plug and play, dropped about an inch all around.
