Type S curb rashed rim
its not extreme but I have extreme OCD with my car sohow hard is this to fix and most importantly do you think a wheel refurb shop can match the paint well enough to be non-noticable.
Had these on for about 3 weeks and my gf fucking rashed it yesterday

What's the rough ballpark cost per wheel if you don't mind? Cuz I'm going to be doing this at least once a year to 3 of 4 wheels, don't know if it is worth it...
Good luck with yours, I lucked out and got 1 wheel replaced due to a wreck, his insurance paid. Cleaned that one up.

well I'm not sure of the cost yet. going to get a quote tomoro. I cant see it being more than 200 bucks. A new type s factory rim is around 3-400 but its not guaranteed to be exact paint match which would sucks balls to have 3 of the same rims than 1 rim slightly off. Hopefully the boys can just touch this up nicely this week. I will post tomoro the quote and then post a pic of the fix!
I've seen some pretty nasty gashes fixed by my local buffing/polishing shop, the thing that concerns me here is the paint matching for this rims

I don't think it's that easy to match the paint. From what I've read in other posts, the coloring on the type S wheels is done in stages adding different colors in layers. You can't just match the paint in one stage. I've seen wheels refurbished where you can see the difference; especially after a few years. I've seen some where all 4 wheels were painted an entirely different color so you couldn't spot the repair. It was close but not close enough...I could tell the difference. I'm sorry guy, but if you want them to look new again I'm afraid you might have to buy them new again.

It so minor that it looks like it could be precisely and lightly filed down and just touch up paint.

^^^ lol no doubt! so went to the wheel shop and they told me that its so minor that I should just get a touch up pen and get the closest possible match. so after scanning through some threads I'm going with the anthracite metallic to touch the rims up and while i was at acura i grabbed a royal blue pearl touch up pen for the body. so I'm all set!!

Buddy, I'd just get it refinished because it looks like it's rough along the edges along with the rashing. That way, the finish will be smooth AND the correct color.

so upon storing my car yesterday I went through a car wash that uses that metal boot ( i know I'm stupid) lol. and it rashed my other rim. FML! so now my 2month old type s rims are both rashed in the front. I have the anthracite metallic touch up pen it looks to be a real nice match. but I'm wondering if i should file down the rough edges and use the pen over it. what you think?

I try to do something good for my car ( storing and washing) and it totally backfired on me. now its sitting in storage with imperfections on the rims. its driving me crazy
Yes most definitely file down the edges as they will be noticeable. Worse, you will feel it when you wash the wheels and I cant stand when the towel gets snagged on it.
Lots of DIY videos on fixing rashes.
If you go to a shop they will do a good job but it is hit or miss if its going to be a perfect match.
My suggestion would be to file it down yourself and use some touch up paint.
Then in the future when it seems financially sound have the wheels repainted. You can paint just the two and put them on the same side.
I personally would do a different color just for kicks. But you can try to match it, do the whole wheel, both of them, and put them on the same side of the car.
That way people cant tell if they are off by as shade. Each side will look pristine in its own right.

well the rims are 2 mnths old so to have them ALL repainted seems a bit a silly at this point. few years down the road yea for sure id just refinish em all.. but ill prob just give the anthracite metallic touch up pen to a wheel shop and let them do what they do best i guess. It just bugging me so bad lol...I find it very concerning from a quality standpoint acura should have their shit together and have a specific paint code for these rims. none of this batches come out different shit
I only suggested painted 2 out of the 4 then putting those 2 on the same side of the car and no one would notice if they are off by a shade.

As for Acura not having their shit together... those wheels are how old now? Come on, seriously. Acura stops producing body parts and paint once the color is discontinued. They probably haven't cared to make that color code in like half a decade.
If you think that is bad try having your car color disconnected when it is only 2 years old!! I better start buying up replacement panels just in case!! lol

buddy, the wheels were manufactured by honda on feb 24th 2014 . I know they came on the 07-08 type s but they do still produce them and if you read threads on here you'll notice there are tons of ppl in same boat as me. But yes you are right, shop will prob say screw the paint pen and more than likely I will have to get the 2 refinished and see now they come out in comparison to the other 2.
My local Lexus dealer has a guy that is very good so I'm going to try that route as they outsource similar style rims to him frequently..
