TPMS Question
Here's the situation:
Got my stockers switched out with some 18" RJ Insypres in the middle of July. Got new tires mounted and balanced along with a new set of TPMS sensors installed at a local shop. Sensors started working fine within a couple miles of driving and has been working fine since just this past Thursday.
Got an error on the MID "TPMS System Function Error"
Error went away during a drive on Saturday. It later went back in its error state after about 10-15 miles of driving.
During the time it came back online, I noticed all but the front passenger sensor were reading fine. The front passenger one continued reading 58psi (normal until a little bit of driving) the whole time before it went back to the error state.
So my question is....if just one sensor isn't functioning correctly, does this result in a complete TPMS error (system/readings not available) for entire car? I'm hoping that just that one sensor (since it never read correct psi after the error went away temporarily) is causing the entire system to malfunction...

Yes, if one sensor isn't functioning correctly... it causes the whole system to go on Error mode... try changing that sensor out...
I've had this issue occur multiple times and everytime, I was actually transporting extra sensors in the car... be it in my glove box to deliver to a friend or with an extra wheel in the trunk... the system was reading more than 4 sensors and going into error mode...
good luck and keep up posted...

Rodney...thanks. That's some interesting and useful information.
Before I give a local shop or dealer a call, I'll try putting an extra wheel in the car or next to each wheel to see if the error goes away...
