TPMS fit any rims??

I saw a guy running saleen rims and must say it looked really good.

Will a TPM Sensor fit on any rim?? Or do rims have to have special provisions to run sensors on them.

Sorry never had a car that required these and couldn't find much good info looking around.

No, they won't fit "any" rim.

In some cases people have had to install straps or brackets on aftermarket wheels. For instance: http://www.iforged.com/store/product...products_id=11

I haven't seen that in quite some time, so maybe wheel companys have adapted/adjusted designs for sensor fitment.

Thanks thats kinda what I was thinking. So between wheel sensors and brembos then wheel choices are limited by a bit.

Limited more by the brakes than the sensors, I think.

Yeah, bad experience with ride quality last time I used spacers on 00 accord V6 to run 07 civic SI rims. Although it did look sweet.

Guess its back to Legends or TSW cadwells. To lip or not to lip????

If the valve hole is in the middle of the barrel you can use the iforged adapters to make the TPMS fit..thats what i did with my wheels

Middle of barrel? can you explain or post a pic?

Did you re-use your tpms or did you buy new? I really don't wanna take tires off my rims and keep them for spares.

sorry I've been busy but this is what i mean by the valve in the middle of the rim (1st pic) The TPMS is normally used on wheels where the valve comes off the side of the wheel (2nd pic) so thats why you need the adapter (pic 3) if the valve hole is in the middle of the barrel.....and i used new TPMS on the wheels. i left the old ones on the OEM wheels and didn't want to go through the hassle of switching TPMS everytime i change wheels its just not worth it ( pics are not mine just found them on Google )

Ahhhh that makes sense. Yeah I have been busy also. This is first time I have been home in 6 days. Work is crazy busy.

So if valve hole is on side then normal TPMS will fit no/limited problems and if in middle need an adapter.
Good to know.

I have a '08 TL Type S and a '07 C6 Corvette. On the Corvette you must tell the car where each TPMS is. Is this the case on the TL?

TPMS on the TL will automatically calibrate themselves within a few miles of driving. simple.

I have a question that relates to this. I'm getting new wheels & tires from Discount Tire and they offer TPMS sensors with the package. Are there any issues with running aftermarket TPMS sensors vs. OEM?

Shouldn't be but I found that it was cheaper or roughly same price just to go with the OEM ones.

Aftermarket should work fine though from what I hear.

I know this post is old, but these adapters don't work if your wheel is a reverse-mount wheel. I tried this on my Work Wheels, but it doesn't work, becuase the drop-channel to install the tire is on the back of the wheel... When you put this adapter with the sensor in the middle of the wheel, the sensor is not in the drop channel, which makes tire-installation impossible. I had to get aftermarket sensors that were oem compatible (because they were smaller), and had them strapped in the drop-channel.

Usually you only have this problem on wheels that have "lips", cuz those don't have a center-drop channel, they have a small drop channel on the back of the wheel.

Some of the newer wheels with lips have TWO holes on them. one in the middle for the valve stem, and a second one in the drop channel on the back of the wheel to bolt in the sensor.
