Toyo Proxies 4 life?

Can anyone tell me the average # of miles people are getting on the proxies 4?

I know it all depends on driving styles, etc.. we all know the EL's are getting between 20 - 30K before needing replacement.

Also if you don't mind throwing in there what you paid for the tires+mounting/balancing i'd appreciate it.

I'm getting a quote of 711.00 for 4, mounted, balanced, and tire protection.

(139.00/tire, just the tire)

What size are you looking at? That will affect the price a good bit...and accounts for the difference in some of the prices listed here. I know EMF has 18's...I think I just saw M3Ac has 17's...best price I found online for 19's was $180.

Sorry, i'm looking at a 245/45/17 -- locations you bought would be helpful too my 711 quote was from Craven Tire in NOVA.

is that going on stock rim?

Is it OK for us to do that without any problems? What are the advantages?

Thanks. (I do not have tires yet, but these are the ones I am most interested in - not trying to hijack your thread.)

I use Craven for tire rotation and alignment in Tysons (currently driving Turanza LS-Z). The guys in there were really pushing Toyo. They must be getting spiffed on them.

The threads I read said it gives better rim protection and yes it fits on the stock.

I paid $145 a tire, mounted, road force balanced and with hazard warranty at Kauffman tire in Atlanta. I paid another $69.00 for a full alignment since all 4 corners were way out. If Craven is the only place in your area I think the only way to get a better deal is to get the tires from edgeracing.com and have them put on by someone in your area. I think they are around $105-110 a tire, but after mounting and balancing it may not be worth the effort.

kevin - according to your numbers, you're paying $155 for mounting, balancing, and tire protection...what's the break out on that? Something seems a little high. By the way, I just checked online (spyeng) and I found the tire you're looking for for $107.42 each.

I finally found an excuse for replacing my Bridgestone EL-42 POS tires... I got a flat and another tire with a bent nail stuck in the tire.

Got the Toyo Proxes 4's at $652 balanced and mounted... plus a $100 rebate so I will effectively be paying $552. Just got them yesterday so can't comment on tire life but even without them being fully broken in (rubbed enough to wear off the slick outer coating) I already notice a big difference in the quietness of the ride and the quality of the ride. I feel only a slight increase in grip right now but I expect that to get much better as I wear in the tires a little bit.

I went 245/45/17 to save my rims. I think it actually looks good since it slightly enhances the stance of the car.

I went to STS tires in East Hanover. The $100 gift card is a promo Toyo is running until July 4th or 7th. I have to mail in a copy of the receipt plus a card they gave me at the tire place.

I got my Proxes 4 on Friday. The dealer never mentioned a $100 gift card. I see the offer expires on July 4th but does anyone know when it started? I am calling the dealer first thing Monday morning!

How much air and rebate info.......

I have my Proxes 4 (P235/45-17) for about 500 miles and they seem to do the job quite nicely. No vibration or any off balance feeling in the mornings or anytime. My only very minor complaint is that there is a slight road hum at about 35 MPH that goes away at other speeds. I am hoping this will fade away as time goes on.

My deal from a local discount tire center was $149.95 a tire which included mounting and balancing. Due to my bad road hazard experiences with the Turanzas, I purchased the road hazard insurance for $14.95 a tire. I had a coupon (from the phone book) for $20. Of course sales tax, NJ tire tax, and disposal fee were added on to the final cost. My tire and road hazard only cost was $599.80 + $59.80 - $20.00 = $639.60.

It sounds like you guys did pretty well at STS. They quoted me super high prices and never mentioned the $100 rebate. By the way, my dealer told me the rebate was an STS promotion and not a Toyo promotion. There is nothing about it on Toyo's website. STS's prices told to me was $175 a tire, $16.95 mounting and balancing, and $17.50 road hazard (10% of the tire cost). That works out to be $700 + $67.80 + $70 = $837.80 plus sales tax, tire tax, and disposal fee. Even with the $100 rebate it's $737.80. I guess they did not want to sell any tires to me that day. I was still almost $100 cheaper after the rebate! I guess all STS's are not created equal.

Like I said, I have the P235/45-17's. The dealer told me he put 35 pounds air in each tire but he also said if I do not like the way it is handling/riding I should add more air. He said I could go all the way up to 50 pounds. How much air do you guys/gals usually run at?

Howard
