too late to rotate tires?

Hi Acura TL Gurus,

I have a 05 TL at about 25K miles and I have never rotated the tires on it. I was wondering if its too late to do so now and if I should just get new tires.

Thanks! Any advice is appreciated!

Yup, they look pretty bad. Go ahead and get new ones.

good one LD... :-)

I would hazard a guess that at 25k, the time to get the benefits of rotation is probably past. I don't think the set would last long enough to even back out, so to speak...

Just my 2 cents.

I think the above posters were commenting on the fact that we can't see what your tire wear looks like without pics and you didn't describe remaining tread depth.
Do you have tire tread left above the wear bars, more than .32" tread above grooves or more tread going past the top of Lincoln's hair when you insert a penny into a groove as to all four tires? If yes and the car drives OK(no shakes, shimmies or other indicators of bad tires), rotate the tires. If not, then get new tires. If you are replacing only fronts or only rears, put the new tires up front and the least-worn tires on back.
Can't tell you more without pics or measurements...

Always put new tires in the rear, regardless of drivetrain layout.

There comes a point where rotating the tires can pose a hazard because two of them are way too worn out. On these cars, you would wear out the front tires sooner than the rear. If those front tires are too worn out, and you rotate them to the rear, anyway, then it could pose a serious threat to vehicle stability, especially in bad weather.

If the front tires are too worn out, then get a new pair, and put those in the back.

I was checking my service record and it turns out my tired got rotated at 23k miles when I did my service B. So I guess its ok since the technician didn't say anything. I also checked the tire thread like one of the poster say and I seem to have quite a bit of thread left.

thank you all for replying
