Exclamation TMPS System Error

All,

I would really appreciate if you guys could give me some advice on TPMS. I just bought an '06 TL with 26k miles on it. It's in great shape and hasn't been in an accident from what i can tell.

When I turn on the car and put the screen on TPMS the two right tires read 58psi but are at 32 when checked with a gauge. After driving for 10 mins. or so, the "TPMS System Error" comes up and all the tire pressures go blank. I've tried pulling the fuse and putting it back in, which didn't change anything.

The two right tires had been curbed at some point but the wheels are not bent. Do you think the tires may have been taken off the car and put in different spots to cause this?

Should I just take it into Acura and let them look at it? Is there anything else I can do before taking it in?

Thanks for your help,
Alan

i've got the same problem. The TPMS SYSTEM ERROR came on after i parked the 2007 TLS outside when it was cold....like 0F (-18C)

I did what you did pulled the fuse, disconnected the battery as well.

Is there anyway to reset this TPMS without going to the dealer....i hate my dealer

Dam way to revive a thread bro! LoL... ne wayz. your sensor went, you need to just buy a new one and replace it. If you're under warranty and never had your OEM tires changed then you might be still covered under warranty.

If your not warrantied, just order the sensor, and go to any tire shop and they will do it for you for like $25 bux. They have to unmount and mount the tire back on and then balance the wheel.

elegant,

I didnt realize this thread was so old....Hehehehe....thanks for the advice man, i sorta thought it was the sensor too!

Damn, was hoping there was some easy way to just reset it. Do you mind if i ask you another question? How do i know which sensor it is? Should I take off one tire at a time and see if i get a reading?

Also, word of advice, these TPMS sensors don't seem to like extreme temperature changes.....i parked it outside for 4 hrs where it went from 18C in my garage to -20C outside! And then the sensor(s) went kaput........ (dats what u get for cleaning the garage!!)

Now mine just went... I put on all my stockies after being stored... and guess what I just passed 50k. And now the sensors went? WTF? All of them say they're at 58psi. What luck... if I have to get all the sensors again it's like 200 bucks.. rip off!

You'll find them for under $100 on the bm.
